DesignStatement
The lifejourney of Bruce LEE is the designmetaphor and main theme of this proposedmuseum. Particular attention has been paid torestoringtheoriginalelementsofLEEsresidence.Toserve the purpose of a museum, exhibition andassociatedfacilitieswillbeprovidedandinharmonywiththerestoredelements.
ExpressionofLEEsLegendaryLifeJourney
Adoubleceilingheightexhibitionhall isdesignedtodescribe LEEsbiography. A continuousundulatingstructure,overhung fromtheceilingofthehall,hasa form resembling thorax of a voluminous dragon.Tomanypeople, dragon isa symbolofLEE. Theundulating ceiling form creates a series of spaceunderneathwith various heights andmoods. Eachspace is designated to exhibit particular period ofLEEs lifejourney. For instance, extremely highceiling space represents the peak period of LEEsmovie career. Sharp drop of ceiling height andextremely low ceiling space representLEEs suddendeath. The difficult time in LEEs lifejourney isrepresentedbyunevenandlowceilingspace.
RestorationofOriginalHouseandObjects
To meet anticipation of LEEs fans, the existinghousewillbe restored to the timewhen LEE livedthere.Detailresearchhasbeencarriedouttostudythe original layout of the house and verify thedrawingsprovidedbytheorganizers.

The frontgardenand the2storeyhighmainhouseare themostsignificant components of the site. The ornamental trees andshrubs,rowplantingalongdriveway,entrancegate,boundarywall,muralpainting,meanderinggardenpath,pondand footbridgeoftheoriginalLEEsgardenwillberestored.Thefaadeandbalconyof themain housewill be restored to their original appearance.Inside the house, the living room, dining room, staircase, study,kungfu room, bedrooms, washrooms and furniture will berestoredasmuchaspossible.
BalanceofOriginalHouseRestorationandAlteration
Inorder tomeet exhibition andoperational requirementsof themuseum,partoforiginalLEEsresidencewillbealternated.Studyhasbeenmade to identifythesignificanceofvariouspartsof thesite. The rear part behind themain house (where the servantquarters, kitchen, laundry and store room were located) isconsidered tobe less significant. New facilities such asmuseumoffice,giftshop,internetcafandlibrarywillbeputthere.Duetolimitedsizeofexistingbuilding,newspaceshavetobeprovidedforexhibitionpurpose. Tofulfillstatutoryplanningrequirementandmaintain a harmonious relationship with the surroundings, no
additional structurewill be added to the existingbuilding. Building extension will only take placeunderground.Themainexhibitionhall,audiovisualroom,etc.willbe located in thebasement. Fromthesurface,LEEsresidencewillstilllookoriginal.
RecreationofEntertheDragonMirrorRoom
To draw visitors attention, the renowned Enterthe Dragon Mirror Room will be recreated.Arrangementofmirrors, layout anddecorationoftheroomwillstrictlyrefertothemovie.Thisroomprovidesgoodphotoopportunityanditmaybethemostpopularattractionofthemuseum.
Weencourageourmemberstogetinvolveinmoreof this public events/ competitions to gainexperience/ exposure and help promote theprofessionofLandscapeArchitecture.
