TRABZON, UZUNGOL

we begin our trip to Uzungöl (long lake). We drive along the Black sea

coast, on the way, we will have short break at the tea factory to taste the

authentic Turkish tea. Uzungöl is most famous for its natural

environment. The region is about 1090 m above sea level and located in

a valley between high rising mountains. It’s a hidden paradise in the

Pontic Alps.

Sultan Murat Plateau , Zilkale , AYDER

Depart for highland area, we will visit Sultan Murad Plateau, which has

an height of 2200 m. Sultan Murat Plateau is a non touristic place where

you can will witness in every tone of green, friendly locals, and highland

village life.

Drive to Camlihemsin through the beautiful Firtina Valley, if time allowed,

we will visit Zilkale Castle , Zilkale is a medieval castle located in the

Ayder


Fırtına Valley, and is one of the most important historical structures in

Çamlıhemşin district of Rize Province.

We will stay overnight in Ayder which is in the boundaries of Kaçkar

Mountains National Park.

D4 Pokut Plateau

Today morning if weather permitted we will drive to highland area

plateau, driving through winding unpaved road for a bit more than one

hour, we arrive Pokut, which is at 2,170 meters high featuring some

beautiful homes which are up to 250-years-old. The greenery and vistas

from this Plateau make it a spot that's really representative of typical

Black Sea beauty.

Before dinner, we will have time to enjoy the thermal spa in Ayder.

Having an average water temperature of 50 degrees, Ayder hot spring

has an effect on various healthy problems.

Huser Plateau

Today we will explore more highland plateau. If weather and road

condition allowed, we will go to even higher altitude area to see the “Sea

of Clouds” (by one hour Jeep on unpaved road). Huser Plateau is

located at 2700m altitude in the mountains. In terms of altitude and

location, it offers the opportunity to see all the highlands of Ayder and

the unique views of the Kaçkar Mountains.

Artvin- SavSat Karagol

Today we drive towards the East. On the way we will see Borçka Dam

Lake. After around 3 hours we will arrive in Artvin. Artvin has a

spectacular setting on a mountainside climbing up from the Çoruh River,

with steep streets zigzagging from the bottom of town to the top. We will

stop by the typical stone bridge for photo break.

After lunch, we will drive through Karagol Sahara National Park, we’ll

visit Şavşat Karagöl and stop by some alpine villages for photo break

and appreciate the traditional Turkish houses.

Cheese Village, Kars, Ani

Early morning we head South to Bogatepe. (about 2 hours driving). We

will visit the cheese museum and taste the famous Kars cheese. Just

outside Kars is the former Armenian capital of Ani. Considered the

greatest achievement of medieval architecture to be seen anywhere in

Turkey, this 11th century metropolis once was home for 100,000

people。 Also Known as “The City of 1,001 Churches”, Ani’s Armenian

rulers and city merchants funded an extraordinary number of places of

worship, all designed by the greatest architectural and artistic minds in

their milieu. We will see many churches ruins and The ruins of an

ancient bridge over the Akhurian River which boarder Armenia.

Kars


D8 Ararat Mountain. The Fortress of Van

We drive towards to Van, passing Doğubayazıt and enjoy photo stops

for the Biblical mountain of Ararat.

If time allowed, on the way we will have photo break at the pretty

Bendimaahi Fall.

After arriving Van ， we will visit the The Fortress of Van, which is a

massive stone fortification built by the ancient kingdom of Urartu during

the 9th to 7th centuries BC, and is the largest example of its kind. watch

the sun set over Lake Van.

D9 Van- fortress of Hoşap, Çavustepe Mahallesi, . Lake Van

Today we continue sightseeing in the Van region including a visit to the

17th century fortress of Hoşap, sitting astride the ancient Silk Road into

Persia and the Orient. On the way we will have a photo stop at

Çavustepe Mahallesi . In the afternoon we will visit the island of Akdamar

in Lake Van to visit the well-preserved 10th C Armenian Church of the

Holy Cross. We go back to Van city, if time allowed, we will have chance

to see the Van cat.

Tatvan-Diyarbakir

This morning we will taste the typical Van breakfast which you can have

it no where else in Turkey.

After breakfast we continue on the north of Lake Van to Tatvan

and visit the Seljuk monuments of Ahlat.

Then we will the Volcano Crater of Nemrut . The highest point around

the rim of the crater maxes out at 2.948 m, while the lakes sit around

2.200 mt. While there is said to be five lakes within the crater.

Diyarbakir


D11

Diyarbakir-Mt. Nemrut

Today we will first do sightseeing in Diyarbakir. the Ulu Cami (Mar

Thoma)(Mosque and Church), then visit the Great wall. Leave for

Nemrut via the ferry over the Euiphratesry arriving in Narlice Village in

Nemrut National Park. We will travel to the top of Mount Nemrut Tombs

of Commagene Kingdom and the Colossal Statues of Gods. Climbing up

to Tumulus of Antiochos, the capital of Kommagene we will watch the

sun set from the summit of Nemrut. This ancient funerary monument at

the peak of Mt Nemrut was forgotten and lost to memory for nearly 2000

years.

D12 Sanliurfa

After breakfast you will see Karakus Tumulus, a burial sanctuary and the

Cendere Bridge, erected by the XVI Legion in the honour of Roman

Emperor Septimus Severus, before proceeding to for Sanliurfa. Via Urfa

we will visit Ataturk dam a part of the giant South East Anatolia Project.

Arriving in Sanliurfa we will visit the Holy Pools of Abraham and the cave

where, tradition tells us, the Prophet Abraham was born.

D13 Harran. Halfeti .Gaziantep

After breakfast leave for Harran. After visiting the ruins of Harran

including the city walls, bee hive house and the oldest Islamic university

and the castle we will drive back to Urfa. Drive to Gaziantep the banks

of the Euphrates for a boat excursion visit Halfeti Rum Kale before

continuing to Gaziantep .

D14 Gaziantep- Zeugma mosaic museum-Old Town

In Gaziantep where we will visit the stunning mosaic museum which

houses a priceless collection of mosaics from the now sunken city of

Zeugma. We will visit the citadel and the Old Town of Gaziantep. We will

have chance to taste the famous Baklava which said to have originated

from Gaziantep.
