Symantec situation

• Symantec is selling its Veritas business (NetBackup and Backup Exec data protection solutions) to Carlyle Group for $8B ($5.5B less than Symantec paid for Veritas 10 years ago). In addition to the high Total Cost of Ownership and operational strains of using NetBackup's weekly full backup methodology, NetBackup enterprise customers now have increased business risks associated with this acquisition.
