Twenty-Third Sunday in Ordinary Time

Pastor’s Letter Dear Parishioners,

In this weekend’s reading from St. Paul, we are told to “Owe nothing to anyone, except

to love one another; for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law.” For this reason, we are responsible for one another, and need to help each other, to love our neighbor as our self. How loving is our God. When we hold each other accountable, with that love we help our neighbor recognize their sins and help them reconcile with the Lord. Each of us is given an opportunity to do the same. When we pray together and celebrate the Liturgy, we unite our prayers, which extend out to others. “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” -Matthew 18:20 Our Lord is physically with us and becomes truly present on the Altar (during the Consecration), and as we receive him in the Eucharist. That is why we acknowledge Him by showing reverence (bowing) before receiving Him.

As we celebrate Labor Day on Monday, we are thankful for all those who labor to keep our country functioning and those that get to enjoy a day of rest. We offer all our work to the Lord to use us for his glory. We pray for those unemployed and searching for work during this pandemic, that they will be able to find a job that will pay them a living wage so that they will be able to support themselves and their family.

Continue to pray for those are battling Covid–19, and for an end to this pandemic.

God bless you and your family, Father Richard

Quote of the Week: “We need to find God, and he cannot be found in noise and restlessness. God is the friend of silence. See how nature -- trees, flowers, grass -- grows in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence. We need silence to be able to touch souls.” -Saint Teresa of Kolkata -Feast Day– September 5th

An Act of Spiritual Communion

My Jesus, I believe that You are truly present in the Holy Eucharist. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen. ________________________________________________ O Sacrament Most Holy, O Sacrament Divine, all praise and all thanksgiving be every moment Thine!
