project of Solar cooker boxTRANSCRIPT
Investigation of the efficiency for a solar cooker box with four reflectors
The basic principle of solar cooker works
sunlight is converted into thermal energy that is retained and used for outdoor cooking purposes
Thermal energyDirect sun Light
Correct position for reflector on box cooker:
The advantages of solar cookers
1. In villages, women have to travel less often to forage for firewood, thus keeping them closer to home and safe as a result
2. Cheaper than cooking with firewood or charcoal
3. Reduced CO2 and methane emissions 4. Solar Cookers can be easily constructed in
a matter of hours after very basic training 5. Solar cookers are generally light-weight
The Limitations of solar cookers
1. It can take very long to cook a meal.2. It is not always sunny3. Solar cooking can only be performed when the sun is strong enough during mid-day, however hot food may be required much earlier on
4. Cooking has to be undertaken outside which may pose additional threats in developing countries
5. Will not perform well in windy areas6. Can be inconsistent and may produce inedible food

Results and discussion
1.temperature increases exponentially with the increase of time according to the thermal energy accumulation due to the green house effect
2. Similarly, the cooking power has the same trend, with the time consumed. This trend agree well with the previous works Chidi [ 25].
Energy as well as power increased linearly as the difference between collector and ambient temperature increased
Effeciency
• The Energy (E) per second radiated by the absorber plate is dependent on the Collector Temperature
• It is found that the Efficiency increases with decreasing temperature difference between collector temperature and ambient temperature
Conclusion and Recommendations
A wooden solar box cooker was successfully constructed with cheap and Locally available material with efficiency About 75%
Efficiency, cooking power and standard cooking power Were found to increase with decreasing temperature difference between collector temperature and ambient temperature
The optimum time for cooking is the mid-noon and afternoon ,because the standard power and the efficiency becomes constant
Conclusion and Recommendations
Mounting a movable wheels to the solar Cooker base for the optimum concentration of
the solar power , as well as the correct position of the reflectors on box cooker
Mounting a rubber joints around the aperture window to minimize thermal leakage
Increase the area of the absorber plate such that it covers the whole inside box area
The End
Thank you very much!
