Last summer, when I came to Armenia I knew little Armenian and I didn’t know the letters because I’d never went to an Armenian school. For me, Armenian was a very foreign language.

I went to a teacher so I could learn to read and write Armenian. I enjoyed it very much. Every day I learned a new letter. After a couple of days I could begin to write words and I was able to read simple stories. My teacher gave me books so that I could practice reading and so I won’t forget the letters. It was easy learning the letters but sometimes I forget them since they’re very different from English letters.

After I’d learned to read and write in Armenian, the language was easier and more familiar.

When the summer was over, I had to go to an Armenian school because there aren’t any English schools here. When I went to school, I learned more new words and my Armenian improved since at school, every time I talked to somebody, I practiced. Now I can write, speak, and read more fluently!
