في هذا العدد

للدور الرائد لمدينة الملك عبد العزيز للعلوم والتقنية ممثلة في برنامج بادر لحاضنات التقنية في تطوير وتوطين التقنية بالمملكة، يأتي العدد الثالث لنشرة بادر بعد عام حافل باإلنجازات، حيث س��جل البرنامج خ��ال ع��ام 2011م أداًء رائعًا في توفي��ر البيئة المحفزة لإلب��داع واالبت��كار، وحقق نجاحًا باهرًا في دعم رواد األعمال الس��عوديين ومس��اعدتهم على تطوير أفكارهم وتحويلها إلى مشاريع تقنية تجارية ناجحة، مم��ا انعكس إيجابًا عل��ى أداء الحاضنات بارتفاع عدد المحتضنين إلى 56 مش��روعًا محتضنًا، توفر 241 فرصة عمل جديدة للش��باب الس��عودي، بزي��ادة قدرها

75% عن عام 2010م.وقد نج��ح البرنامج أيضًا في إنش��اء العديد من الوحدات الجديدة للنهوض واالرتقاء بأدائه من بينها وحدة تمويل المنشآت التقنية، ووحدة دعم ريادة األعمال، ووحدة دعم الحاضنات، ودعم إنش��اء 11 حاضنة بالمملكة من خال شراكات استراتيجية، واتفاقيات التطوير ، فضًا عن دوره في توفير التمويل المالي للمشاريع من خال وحدة بادر لتمويل المش��اريع التقنية التي نجح��ت في توفير الدعم المال��ي ل��� 41 مش��روعًا بأكثر م��ن 53,5 ملي��ون ريال لتطوير المشاريع وتوسيع منتجاتها وخدماتها. كما حقق

برنامج بادر تقدمًا ملحوظًا في تنظيم البرامج والفعاليات التوعوية بتنظيم أكثر من 40 فعالية لدعم ريادة األعمال

التقنية بالمملكة.وعاوة على ذلك فقد شهد العام 2011م وألول مرة في تاريخ برنامج بادر تخريج اثنين من المشاريع المحتضنة، هما مشروعي )سيمانور( و )اسمي( برعاية صاحب السمو األمير الدكتور تركي بن سعود بن محمد آل سعود ، نائب رئيس المدين��ة لمعاهد البحوث، بعد النجاح الباهر الذي حققاه هذين المش��روعين وتحوال من مجرد أفكار تقنية إلى شركات تجارية متميزة وواعدة في السوق السعودي.حقًا لقد ودعنا عامًا مليئًا باإلنجازات المشرفة، متطلعين إلى مستقبل مشرق خال عام 2012م ، في حين يحدونا األمل وكلنا ثقة وتفاؤل بأن يس��تمر عط��اء برنامج بادر لتحقيق المزيد من اإلنجازات تأكيدًا لرؤية مدينة الملك عبد العزيز للعلوم والتقنية الهادفة إلى االنتقال بالمملكة م��ن االقتصاد القائم على الم��وارد الطبيعية إلى نهضة اقتصادية ش��املة يحركها اإلب��داع واالبت��كار، والتحول إلى االقتصاد القائم عل��ى المعرفة لتنويع مصادر الدخل

المدير التنفيذي لبرنامج بادر لحاضنات التقنية

مدينة المل��ك عبد العزي��ز للعلوم والتقني��ة ممثل��ة في برنام��ج بادر لحاضنات التقني��ة اهتمامًا خاصًا بدعم الش��باب الس��عوديين الذي��ن يحمل��ون أف��كارًا إبداعي��ة ف��ي مختلف المج��االت التقنية، وف��ي واحدة من قص��ص النج��اح الرائعة له��ؤالء الش��باب، حقق موقع )مكش��اتwww.mekshat.com( لألستاذ أحم��د العب��ودي المحتضن بحاضنة ب��ادر لتقنية المعلوم��ات واالتصاالت نجاحًا باهرًا في تس��خير التقنية للمحافظة عل��ى الحياة الفطرية وإنمائها وصيانته��ا م��ن االنقراض، من خال االس��تغال األمثل لإلنترنت للتواصل مع كافة شرائح المجتمع لتعريفه��م بالحياة الفطرية وزيادة الوعي لديهم بالمحافظة على البيئة وتنمية مواردها الطبيعية.

وقال العبودي مؤسس موقع )مكشات( الذي يعد أول موق��ع عربي يعنى بالرح��ات البرية والصيد ومتابعة األح��وال الجوية،أن الموق��ع يهدف إلى تعزي��ز الجه��ود الت��ي تبذلها الدول��ة للمحافظة عل��ى البيئة، وتقدي��م النصح واإلرش��اد لمرتادي الصح��راء والمتنزه��ات البري��ة والبحري��ة وهواة الصي��د بأنواع��ه، وتغطي��ة المواق��ع الس��ياحية والمعالم الجغرافية وأماك��ن التنزه في المملكة، باإلضافة إلى التعريف بشتى أنواع الحياة الفطرية وخصائصها وتنوعه��ا األحيائي، ومتابعة األحوال الجوية المتعلقة باألمطار ودرجات الحرارة وكافة

التقلبات المناخية بشكل آني.وأض��اف أن الموقع يس��تخدم الرس��ائل القصيرة SMSللتواصل مع األعضاء لتنمية القيم والمهارات والس��لوكيات الحمي��دة لديه��م للمحافظةعل��ى البيئة،والتوعية بمخاطر اإلسراف في الصيد واآلثار السلبية لإلحتطاب والرعي الجائر، وتقديم األخبار والتوقع��ات اليومي��ة لألح��وال الجوية،مما جعله يحظى بمتابعة كبيرة، حيث وصل عدد مشاركات

األعضاء ف��ي المواضيع المطروحة بالمنتدى أكثر من 7 مليون مش��اركة، وس��جل الموقع أكبر عدد مشاهدات ألخبار التوقعات المناخية بلغ أكثر من 1,8 مليون مش��اهدة، وحقق أكبر نس��بة تواجد

للزوار في وقت واحد بعدد 7482 زائر.وأوضح العبودي أن )مكشات( يضم 200 مراسًا يغط��ون جمي��ع مناط��ق المملك��ة ودول الخليج وال��دول العربية يهتمون بنقل الص��ور الحقيقية لمايرون��ه ويش��اهدونه عل��ى أرض الواقع، و 80 مش��رفًا يقوم��ون بالتوجي��ه واإلرش��اد والتنظيم والرقاب��ة الدقيق��ة لكل م��ا يكتب به��دف الرقي

بالطرح وتعزيز المحتوى.

وأش��ار إلى نج��اح الموقع ومش��اركته الفاعلة في العدي��د من األنش��طة والفعالي��ات الوطنية التي تهتم بالتوعية في مجال الحياة الفطرية وتشجيع األعض��اء على المش��اركة في حم��ات المحافظة عل��ى البيئ��ة، فضًا ع��ن حص��ول الموق��ع على ش��هادةالجودة الش��املة األي��زو 9001:2008 لتحقيق��ه ش��روط ومعايير األي��زو العالمية، حيث يعتبر هذا اإلنجاز دفعة قوية الس��تكمال سلس��لة إنجازاته��م الرائ��دة والمحافظة على المس��توى العال��ي من الجودة ف��ي تقديم جمي��ع الخدمات

رعاي��ة مدين��ة الملك عبد العزي��ز للعلوم والتقنية ممثلة في برنامج بادر لحاضنات التقنية، نظم مؤخرًا بمقر البرنامج بالرياض ورشة عمل هامة عن )توظيف اإلعام الجديد– الرقمي- والشبكات االجتماعية في خدمة أهداف المنظمات(، بحضور عدد من المس��ؤولين في إدارات العاق��ات العامة واإلعام والتس��ويق بع��دد من الجه��ات الحكومية وش��ركات

القطاع الخاص بالمملكة.وأك��د األس��تاذ محمد ب��دوي خبي��ر التقنية بش��ركة )زاركونيzarcony( للتدريب وتطوير تطبيقات األيفون المحتضنة بحاضنة بادر لتقنية المعلومات واالتصاالت، أهمية اس��تفادة الجه��ات الحكومية والش��ركات من التط��ور التقني الهائل الذي يش��هده العالم اليوم في

الش��بكات االجتماعي��ة )فيس بوك وتويت��ر ويوتيوب وجوج��ل( لتحقيق أهدافه��ا والوصول إل��ى جمهورها المستهدف،الس��يما في ظ��ل النمو المتزاي��د ألعداد المتصفحي��ن للش��بكات االجتماعية بنس��بة انتش��ار عالي��ة جدًا تص��ل إلى 250% س��نويًا،حيث وصل عدد المس��تخدمين إلى أكث��ر من 800 مليون مس��تخدم نش��ط، وأكثر من 400 مليون يدخلون على الشبكات

االجتماعية يوميًا.وأوضح بدوي أن المملكة ومصر تأتيان في مقدمة دول المنطقة في عدد المستخدمين للشبكات االجتماعية، حيث يبلغ عدد مستخدمي فيس بوك في المملكة أكثر من 4,5 مليون مس��تخدم، وأن الرياض تمثل نس��بة 87% م��ن عدد المس��تخدمين تليها جدة ث��م الخبر،

مش��يرًا إلى أن نسبة 95% من الس��عوديين يملكون ج��واالت، وأن 69% منهم يدخل��ون على اإلنترنت عبر الجوال، فيما بلغ عدد مستخدمي اإلنترنت في المملكة إلى 11,8 مليون مش��ترك، مما يعد حافزًا للمنظمات للوصول إلى جميع شرائح المجتمع عبر اإلعام الرقمي

وأك��د الدكتور عب��د العزيز بن إبراهي��م الحرقان المدي��ر التنفيذي لبرنامج ب��ادر لحاضنات التقنية بمدينة الملك عبد العزيز، أثناء مشاركته في أعمال منتدى التنافس��ية الدول��ي الس��ادس بالرياض، إس��تعداد حاضنات بادر للمشاركة في تنفيذ هذه المبادرة القيّمة وتقديم تجاربها الس��ابقة إلبراز الجهود المبذولة وتسخير كافة التسهيات لتوحيد الجهود للعناية بقطاع األعمال الناشئة ومساعدته في التغلب على التحدي��ات. واصفًا المبادرة بانها »إيجابي��ة وهامة جدًا« لدوره��ا في خلق التواصل

والتفاعل مع رواد األعمال، وتقييم أدائهم والتعرف على تحدياتهم، مما يسهل على الجهات الحكومية معالج��ة الخل��ل وتحس��ين اإلج��راءات وتس��هيل األعمال، ال سيما وأنها ستكون تحت مظلة واحدة

مدين��ة المل��ك عب��د العزي��ز للعلوم والتقني��ة ممثل��ة ف��ي برنام��ج بادر لحاضن��ات التقنية، إنش��اء حاضنة األعم��ال التقنية بجامعة األمير سلمان بن عبد العزيز بمدينة الخرج، انطاق��ًا م��ن الدور الرائ��د للمدينة ف��ي دعم جميع حاضنات األعمال التقنية بالمملكة، وتأكيدًا لمبادرة صاحب الس��مو الملكي األمير عبدالرحمن بن ناصر بن عبدالعزيز أمير محافظ��ة الخرج الهادفة إلىدعم ري��ادة األعم��ال التقنيةبالخرج، والتي ق��ام بدعمها صاحب الس��مو األمير الدكتور تركي بن س��عود بن محمد آل سعود ، نائب رئيس مدينة الملك عبدالعزيز للعلوم والتقنية لمعاه��د البحوث،وأصدر توجيهاته بالموافقةعلى خطط توسع الحاضنة وإنشائها وفقًا للمعايي��ر الدولية المتبع��ة لتحقيق التط��ور والنمو

وقال الدكتور عبد العزيز بن إبراهيم الحرقان المدير التنفي��ذي لبرنامج ب��ادر لحاضنات التقني��ة بمدينة الملك عبدالعزيز للعلوم والتقنية، أن وفد وحدة دعم حاضنات األعم��ال ببرنامج بادر، أج��رى خال زيارته للخرج اجتماعًا م��ع إدارة الجامعة تناولت تعزيز أوجه التعاون المش��ترك بين برنامج ب��ادر وجامعة الخرج، وبحث السبل الكفيلة بتطوير العمل وتنفيذ الخطط الطموحة للحاضنة التي تم إنشاؤها بكلية الصيدلة بجامعة الخ��رج، بعد اكتمال كافة دراس��ات الجدوى والخطط التنفيذية واالس��تبيان والمس��ح الميداني

إنجاز جديد لمدينة الملك عبد العزيز للعل��وم والتقنية ممثل��ة في برنامج ب��ادر لحاضن��ات التقنية، فاز المش��روع التقني التجاري )اس��مي( لصاحب��ه المهندس عبد اهلل الزامل الذي تم تخريجه حديثًا من حاضنة بادر لتقنية المعلومات واالتصاالت، بجائزة المركز األول للشركات السعودية ال�100 األسرع نموًا في المملكة لفئة الش��ركات الناشئة األقل من خمس س��نوات، وذلك ضم��ن فعاليات منتدى التنافسية السادس الذي عقد بالرياض مؤخرًا، تحت رعاي��ة خادم الحرمين الش��ريفين الملك عبد اهلل بن عبد العزيز آل سعود )حفظه اهلل(.

وقام الرئي��س التنفيذي للبن��ك األهلي التجاري األس��تاذ عبد الكريم أبو النص��ر وممثل الهيئة العامة لاستثمار الس��عودي بتسليم المهندس عب��د اهلل الزام��ل درع الجائ��زة، وف��اًء وتقدي��رًا

ومن جانب��ه أكد الدكتور تركي عدنان عبد المجيد الرئي��س التنفي��ذي لش��ركة وادي ج��دة ال��ذراع االس��تثماري لجامع��ة الملك عبدالعزي��ز و المعنية لاستثمار في االقتصاد المعرفي، أهمية تنظيم مثل هذه اللقاءات بصفة دورية لتب��ادل األفكار والرؤى حول أنجح السبل للنهوض بصناعة حاضنات التقنية ف��ي المملكة، واصف��ًا االجتماع بأن��ه كان »ناجحًا ومثم��رًا« كونه بحث العديد من الموضوعات التي تهم عمل الش��بكة الس��عودية لحاضنات األعمال خال الفترة المقبلة، وآليات تفعيل أدائها لاطاع بدوره��ا الهام ف��ي دعم ورعاية المنش��آت التقنية الصغيرة والمتوسطة، لتطوير وتوطين التقنية في

المملكة.وتضمن االجتماع ورش��ة عمل قيّمة قدمها الخبير العالم��ي في مج��ال صناع��ة الحاضن��ات الدكتور جوليان ويب، مدير إدارة المش��اريع التقنية بالبنك الدولي ومدير مجموعة خبراء واحات العلوم ومراكز اإلبداع بأوروبا، تناولت التعريف بشبكات الحاضنات التقني��ة، والمب��ادئ األساس��ية لعم��ل الحاضنات، وكيفية مس��اعدة ودعم إنش��اء حاضن��ات األعمال والعم��ل على اس��تمرارها م��ن أجل تحقي��ق نجاح ونمو الش��ركات التقنية الصغيرة والمتوسطة في

المملكة.

ال يخفى على احد ما بلغه حجم االقتصاد األمريكي م��ن قوة ومتانة في عالم اليوم، فهو أكبر اقتصاد Small Business( في العالم، وحسب ما ذكر عنAdministration )SBA(( أن 85% م��ن منش��آت هذا االقتصاد العماق هي منش��آت صغيرة، وهذه المنش��آت توظ��ف 50% م��ن الطاق��ة العاملة في االقتص��اد األمريكي، وتس��هم بنس��بة 50% من الناتج القومي GDP بينما تسهم الشركات الكبرى

في توظيف 15% من إجمالي الوظائف. وال تختل��ف الحال مع ثان��ي أو ثالث اكب��ر اقتصاد عالم��ي أال وهو االقتص��اد الياباني، حيث تش��كل مشاركة المنشآت الصغيرة نسبة 56 % من إجمالي الناتج القوميGDP ، ومن اليابان إلى الس��عودية حيث يشكل قطاع المنشآت الصغيرة والمتوسطة اكثر من 70% من حجم المنش��آت القائمة، ولكن كم تش��كل مس��اهمتها في النات��ج القومي؟ وكم

يستوعب هذا القطاع من الوظائف؟إن هذا القط��اع المهم يحتاج إل��ى تنظيم بالنظر للدور البارز ال��ذي يؤديه، فقد اصبح من الضروري إنش��اء هيئ��ة للمنش��آت الصغيرة والمتوس��طة، يضاف إلى ذلك أن الدراسات المتخصصة أظهرت

أن المنش��آت الصغيرة تنتج اكثر ب��� 24 مرة من المنش��آت الكبي��رة من ناحي��ة ب��راءات االختراع، فاليابان مثًا ل��م تصل إلى هذا المكانة من فراغ، حي��ث تم في ع��ام 1948 م إنش��اء وكالة أو هيئة

للمنشآت الصغيرة والمتوسطة. واليوم يحتاج السوق السعودي إلى ردم الفجوة بين الشركات الكبرى و الشركات الصغيرة والمتوسطة بحي��ث يتم بناء جس��ور تواصل بينه��ا، فالمملكة تحتض��ن أكبر ش��ركة بت��رول في العال��م، كذلك واحدة من أكبر ش��ركات البتروكيماويات، السؤال المطروح هنا: أين دور هذه الشركات العماقة في مد جسور التواصل مع المنشآت الصغيرة؟ وكذلك البنوك التي تدعم الشركات الكبرى وال تساعد في

نمو االقتصاد الوطني.نع��م، نحتاج إلى إنش��اء هيئة للمنش��آت الصغيرة والمتوس��طة، يتلخ��ص دورها ف��ي تنظيم العمل الصغي��رة المنش��آت أم��ام العقب��ات وتذلي��ل والمتوس��طة، كم��ا نحت��اج هيئة على غ��رار هيئة االستثمار التي قدمت خدمات تنموية كبيرة قفزت

بالمملكة إلى المرتبة 11 عالميًا.وفي ض��وء ذل��ك، نريد في ح��ال قي��ام مثل هذه

الهيئ��ة أن تقف��ز بمش��اركة المنش��آت الصغيرة والمتوس��طة في إجمالي الناتج القومي إلى %50 GDP ، وأن تس��توعب كذل��ك 50% من الوظائف للسعوديين، ليس هذا فقط نريد أن تطبق خطط التكام��ل االقتص��ادي، فالمملك��ة ارض الخي��رات والثروات المعدنية والزراعية والسمكية، ونريد لها أن تس��اعد المزارع في تصدي��ر التمور إلى الخارج، وكذلك تدعوا الشركات العالمية الكبرى لاستفادة من الثروات المحلية على غرار البرازيل في استفادة شركة نستلة العالمية من إنتاج القهوة البرازيلية.

اليوم نحن نعي��ش في عالم صغير وال يعتمد على الس��وق المحلي��ة مع العل��م ان حج��م الطلب في السوق المحلية ليس س��هًا، ولكل ما نحتاجه هو هيئة تنظم عمل المنشآت المتوسطة والصغيرة، فمجرد التنظيم سوف يحدث فرقًا كبيرًا في االقتصاد الوطني السيما وأن المملكة تعد من اكبر مصدري

البترول في العالم.

يعد أحد المشاريع الفائزة في أول لقاء لمنظمة » ستارت اب ويك اندStartup Weekend« بالرياض، وتم احتضانه بحاضنة بادر لتقنية المعلومات واالتصاالت.

يهدف المش��روع إلى دعم المستهلك وحمايته، من خال إنش��اء بوابة اإللكترونية متكاملة تتناول قصص وحكايات حصلت للمس��تهلكين أثناء تجربتهم لمنتج معين وذكر إيجابياته وس��لبياته وبث شكواهم وتثبيتها بالتصوير، مما يؤدي إلى زيادة

الوعي ورفع مستوى األداء في الخدمات وجودة المنتجات في المملكة.

يهدف مش��روع )يتوق( المحتضن بحاضنة بادر للتصنيع المتقدم إلى إنش��اء ش��ركة متخصصة في القه��وة العربية الفاخرة ويشمل المشروع منتجين، األول عبارة عن ماكينة لعمل القهوة العربية بشكل سريع وآلي وبطعم يضاهي القهوة المصنوعة

بالطرق التقليدية. والمنتج الثاني هي خلطات للقهوة العربية لاستخدام على ماكينة القهوة.وأطلق المش��روع حاليًا منت��ج خلطات القهوة العربية الفاخرة الت��ي يتم توزيعها في الواليات المتح��دة األمريكية والمملكة

العربية السعودية، بينما ال يزال العمل جاريًا على تطوير الماكينة لتقديمها للسوق.

This project is one of the winning projects in the first meeting of Startup Weekend in Riyadh. It was recently incubated by BADIR Communication and Information Technology Incubator.The project aims at providing consumer support and protection by creating a comprehensive online portal allowing consumers to tell their stories and share their personal experiences and thoughts concerning particular products, stating their pros and cons, and conveying their concerns and supporting their experiences with images as evidence. This aims at raising public awareness, improving services, and maintaining high quality products in KSA.

As a project recently incubated by BADIR Advanced Manufacturing Incubator, it aims at establishing a company specialized in luxurious Arabic coffee. The project consists of two components: The first is a machine designed to produce flavored Arabic coffee in a fast, automated, and efficient manner. The second is the preparation of a variety of luxurious coffee blends with the coffee machine.The project has revealed a variety of luxurious Arabic coffee blends that are currently being distributed in the United States of America and Saudi Arabia, while the development of the coffee machine to be launched into the market is still under progress.

These enter-prises employ 50 % of the work force in the U.S. economy, contributing 50% of the gross domestic product (GDP), while the bigger companies share is only 15% of the total number of jobs.The case is not different with the second or third largest global economy, namely the Japanese economy, where small enterprises contribute 56% of the gross domestic product (GDP). Moving from Japan to Saudi Arabia, we find that the sector of small and medium enterprises constitute of more than 70% of the vol-ume of existing enterprises. But what is their contribution to the gross national product? And how many jobs has this sector created?This important sector needs restructur-ing, given the prominent role it plays. It has become a necessity to establish a special authority for SMEs. In addition to that, specialized studies show that small enterprises produce more than 24 times

more than large enterprises in terms of patents. Japan, for example, did not achieve its high global position in a vacuum. In 1948, a special authority for small and medium enterprises was es-tablished there.Today, the Saudi market needs to bridge the gap between large companies and small and medium enterprises, so as to build bridges of communication between them. KSA hosts the largest oil company in the world, as well as one of the largest petrochemical compa-nies. The question here is: What is the role of these giant companies in build-ing bridges of communication with small enterprises? Not to mention banks that support big companies, but don’t assist in the growth of the national economy.Yes, we need to create an authority for SMEs to organize work and overcome the obstacles hindering the growth of SMEs. We also need something similar to the Investment Authority, which provided major development services that gave KSA its rank as No. 11 in the world.In light of this, and in the event that such an authority is established, we must aim at raising the contribution of SMEs in GDP to 50%, and to make them accommo-

date 50% of the job opportunities for Saudis. That is not all! We also need to see the implementation of economic integration schemes. KSA is the land of welfare and mineral, agricultural and fisheries resources. We need to see this helping farmers export dates, and invite major international corporates to take advantage of local resources, the way Nestle did in Brazil in producing Brazilian coffee.The world has become a global village. We should not depend on the local market only, although the volume of de-mand in the domestic market is not little. All we need is an authority to organize the SMEs sector. This goal is achieved through the opti-mal use of the Internet to reach out to all segments of the society, introduce them to wildlife, and raise their awareness re-garding the preservation and protec-tion of nature and wildlife.In this regard, Mr. Al Aboudi, founder of Mekshat, the first Arabic website dedi-cated to safaris, hunting, and weather forecast, said that the website aims at supporting governmental efforts to pre-serve the environment, and providing guidance and advice for desert safari lovers, and people who visit wildlife and aquatic parks, as well as hunting enthu-siasts. Dr Al-Hargan explained that the first graduat-ed project was “S-ME”, owned by engi-neer Abdullah Al-Zamel, who has made a distinguished achievement for KSA in the field of technology, by winning the World Bank prize for business incubators, and by appearing on the list of the best 50 emerging technological commercial projects in the world. His project occu-pied the fourth position on the list of best commercial tech projects in the Middle East. Moreover, it occupied the first posi-tion in the list of the best 100 fast-growing companies in KSA. The second gradu-ated project was “Semanoor” ,owned by Mr. Imad Al-Dughaither. It provides e-learning solutions through the Nooor website, which includes the books of Saudi Ministry of Education, in addition to e-lessons. More than 215,000 teachers have benefited from the services of this website, and its visitors exceeded 5 mil-lion, from approximately 13,000 cities all over the world.

In affirmation of the pioneering role of King Abdul-Aziz City for Science and Technology, represented by BADIR Program for Technol-ogy Incubators, in developing and local-izing technology in KSA, the third issue of BADIR Newsletter comes after a year full of achievements. In 2011, the program had a great record in providing an environment that stimulates creation and innovation. It also achieved great success in supporting Saudi entrepreneurs and helping them de-velop their ideas and transform them into successful commercial technology projects. This reflected positively in the incubators per-formance with a rise in the number of incu-bated projects to 56, providing 241 new job opportunities for the Saudi youth, a remark-able increase of 75% compared to 2010.The program also succeeded in establishing many new units to improve and enhance its performance, including the Technology Enterprises Funding Unit, the Entrepreneur-ship Program, and the Incubators Support Service Unit. It also helped in establishing 11 incubators in KSA through strategic partner-ships and development agreements, in ad-dition to its role in financing projects with the help of BADIR Technology Projects Funding Unit, which succeeded in financing 41 pro-jects with a sum of more than 53.5 million Riyals, that would be used to develop their

schemes and expand their product range and services. BADIR program also made a remarkable progress in forming awareness programs and activities by organizing more than 40 events to support technological business entrepreneurship in KSA.Furthermore, the year 2011 witnessed, for the first time in the history of BADIR, the gradua-tion of two incubated projects: (Semanoor) and (S-ME), under the patronage of His High-ness Prince Dr. Turki Bin Muhammad Al Saud, Vice President of the City for Research Insti-tutes, after the dazzling success achieved by these two projects, hence turning from mere technological ideas into outstanding and promising enterprises in the Saudi market.We indeed bid farewell to a year full of hon-orable achievements, looking forward to a bright future in 2012, with hope and confi-dence that BADIR will keep on achieving more accomplishments, in alignment of the view of King Abdul-Aziz city for science and technology, which aims to shift KSA’s natural resources dependent economy to a knowl-edge-based economy within the framework of a comprehensive economic revival, led by creativity and innovation, in order to di-versify the sources of income and achieve sustainable economic growth.Chief Executive officer of Badir program for technology incubators.
