AbstractThe most common post-excisional defect to be reconstructed in the field of plastic surgery and dermatosurgery is the circular one. Conventional direct closure of this type of skin defects causes unsightly protrusions and standing deformities (dog ears). Conversion of the defect into fusiform with angles of 30 degrees or less reduce protrusion but may require excision of larger volumes and lengths of healthy skin and subcutaneous tissue than is often undesirable. Material and method: All cases of plastic repair of post-excisional defects by using unilateral M-plasty technique between February 2011 and May 2013 were reviewed.Results: Five patients with mean age 50.4 y were included in the study. In three of then a benign surgical excision was performed and in two patients a basal cell carcinoma was excised. An affection of certain anatomical structures and scar lengthening was avoided by applying the M-plasty technique. No functional and aesthetic postoperative complications were observed. A 100% of the patients were satisfied with the final outcome. Conclusion: M-plasty technique is an effective reconstructive method which shortens the scar and protects vital anatomic structures. It preserves the intact tissue (skin) reduce while still allowing use of 30 degrees angles at maximum.Key words: M-plasty, elliptical excision, local plasty, dog ears. - - ,

. : , , , Abstract: Infantile haemangiomas (IH) are the most common tumors of infancy and childhood. Most IH are medically insignificant; however, a proportion will require treatment because of interference with vital structures, threat of significant disfigurement, ulceration, or bleeding. This article reviews briefly current concepts, definitions and classifications of IH. The most controversial issues regarding the purposes and indications for treatment are discussed. Special emphasis is put on the most contemporary treatment of these lesions with laser systems. In Bulgarian science and practice laser treatment of IH still remains unclear. AbstractThe elbow fractures are among the most difficult for treatment and kinesitherapy injuries of the upper limb. Restriction of movements in this joint may lead to a significant reduction of working capacity with great social and professional impact. There is much controversy on which one is the most appropriate method of treatment and recovery model.

Materials and methods: Participating in the study were 15 patients who had intraarticular fractures of the elbow treated surgically. Patients have been subjected to early postoperative recovery program of kinesitherapy with active exercises using elastic resistance. Goniometry and manual-muscle testing (MMT) were used for ongoing follow-up.

Results: An improvement in the range of motion in sagittal plane was achieved: flexion reached 121, while deficit in extension was of -19.5. At the final stage of the study the reported deficit in muscle strength was 3 MMT for flexor muscles and 3.6 for extensors muscles.

Conclusion: Contemporary tools and methods of kinesitherapy are giving now more and more opportunities for fast recovery of elbow function. We are encouraged by the initial results obtained after early implementation of elastic resistance.Keywords: kinesitherapy, elastic resistance, intraarticular elbow fractures, goniometry, manual-muscle testing.
