２．奈良・平安時代 710-784, 785-1185 特徴

ある意味では東方ミトラ教の完成形態とも言うべき、密教が渡来した。 最澄（767-822）、空海（774-835）

習合運動は衰えず、神仏習合と修験を生んだ。 浄土信仰というかたちで、イラン的要素が再燃した。

２．Nara and Heian Era 710-784, 785-1185 Important Points

Esoteric Buddhism came to Japan. It is in a sense the final form of Eastern Mithraism. -Saicho(767-822) and Kukai(774-835) brought it from China.

It is in a sense the perfected form of the eastern Mithraism. Its syncretism movement bore god-buddha syncretism and Shugen. Iranian spirit revived in the guise of Pre Land Buddhism.

Theogony Theogony of Esoteric Buddhism is explained perfectly by that of the Eastern Mithraism. Karachakra Buddha, Yab-Yom, Amitabha, Gautama, Myouou, reincarnation, continuity between Pure Land Buddhism and Esoteric Buddhism are impossible to explain by Zoroastrian doctrine.

密教 ミトラの名前に中国人は次のような漢字をあてた。

蜜、密、弥勒

密教は、密（ミトラ）の教えを意味したが、後にこの意味が忘れられ、秘密の教えと解釈されるようになった。

Mikkyo (Esoteric Buddhism) Mithra’s name was transcribed into Chinese using following Chinese characters: - 蜜……/Mi/ Honey - 密……/Mi/ Closeness, friendship, secret - 弥勒…/Mi-lo/ Mithra (弥 Mi) of Persians (勒 lo) 密教 means Theachings (教) of Mithra (密). Later, the original meaning was forgotten. People became to interpret it “Esoteric Teaching”.

太陽神 太陽神とは、太陽をとおして光をこの世に降り注ぐ神を意味する。インドのアーディティヤ、ペルシアのミトラ、

ギリシアのアポロ、バビロニアのシャマシュがこれに相当する。

ヘレニズム時代の中央アジアでは、ミトラとゼウスが習合し、最高神ゼウス-ミトラになった。バクトリアの首都ア

イハヌムには、王杖を持ち、フリギア帽をかぶって後光を放つ巨大なゼウス-ミトラ像が安置されていた。

日輪神 日輪神とは、物理的な太陽そのもの、あるいは太陽の運行を司る神をさす。インドのスーリヤ、ペルシアのフ

ワル、ギリシアのヘーリオス、ローマのソルがこれに相当する。

大日の誕生

釈迦仏が生きていた当時、アスラ神族の主はアーディティヤ神群であり、彼らは光り輝き照らす者（ヴィロチャ

ナ）と呼ばれていた。時代が下ると、スーリヤがアーディティヤ神群の代表格となり、スーリヤがアーディティヤで

あるとみなされるようになった。ヘレニズム時代になると、中央アジアにおいて、光り輝き照らす者＝アーディテ

ィヤ＝スーリヤはミトラ＝フワルと習合して地位を高め、最終的に密教の主神・大日如来（大ヴァイロチャナ）に

なった。

大日と弥勒の関係は、「大日弥勒同体」という教義の中に明確に示されている。

The Birth of Mahavairocana of Esoteric Buddhism –Great syncretism in the Central Asia

The Sun God

He is the god who distributes heavenly light through the physical Sun. Indian Aditya, Persian Mithra, Greek Apollo, Babylonian Shamash. In Bactria, Mithra and Zeus are unified to be the Lord God Zeus-Mithra under the influence of Hellenism. A huge Zeus-Mithra stature, who wore a phrygian cap and had a scepter in his hand, was set in the capital city Ai-Khanoum.

The future Buddha Maitreya, usually represented seated on a throne Western-style, and venerated both in Mahayana and non-Mahayana Buddhism, is sometimes considered as influenced by Mithra.

Some scholars suggest Maitreya was originally linked to the Iranian saviour-god Mithra, and that his later importance for Buddhist as the future Buddha residing in the Tusita heaven (the sphere of the Sun), who will follow on from Sakyamuni Buddha, derives from this syncretism.

The god of the Sun-disk He is the sun driver and sometimes identical with the physical sun itself. Indian Surya, Perishian Khwar, Greek Helios and Roman Sol.

The birth of Mahavairocana

In Prince Gautama’s time, Virocana was a title for the adityas (the lord of the asuras). Virocana means those who shines and gives light to every part of the world. Surya became the chief deity of the adityas and then was identical with Aditya itself. In Hellenism, the syncretism of Virocana-Aditya-Surya and Mithra-Zeus-Khwar occurred. The syncretism produced Mahavairocana the Lord God of Esoteric Buddhism.

The relation between Mahavairocana and Mirku is stated in the doctrine of Mahavairocana-Miroku that the two are identical.

弥勒大日同一体 善無根がインドから中国に真言密教を伝えた。 善無根は『慈氏菩薩略修愈言我念誦法』二巻を著し、 この中で「弥勒大日同一体」と説いた。 この教えは善無根→金剛智→恵果→空海と伝えられた。

Doctrine of Shingon-mikkyou “Dainichi is identical with Miroku”

It was transmitted from India to China via Ceylon. The first teacher Zenmukon wrote a sutra in two volumes. He taught Miroku and Dainichi are identical. This teaching was handed down from Zenmukon to Kongouchi, Keika, and finally Kukai.

Eight Vidya-rajas Scholars of Russian, East Europe, Central Asia and China thought that Mahayana Buddhism was created by Magian and/or Manichaean priests.

According to their theory, in the forming process of Mahayana doctrine, sons of Mithra were adapted to become eight Myouohs (Furious Bodhisattvas).

妙見 ミトラの別名。仏教と修験宗における、天の最高神にして占星術の神。 妙見の象徴は、北斗七星。 北斗七星の七つの星は、七曜に対応している。 妙見と七曜神の関係は、原アムシャスプンタに由来する。

Myouken Another name of Mithra. The Supreme Lord God of Heaven and God of astrology in both esoteric Buddhism (密教) and Shugen-shu (修験宗).

Myouken’s symbol is the Dipper (Ursa minor, 北斗七星) . In Japan seven stars of the Dipper correspond to the seven planets (七曜). The link between Myoken(Mithra) and the seven gods is a reflection of Simorghian original Ameshaspenta.

Matara

The name “Matara” is thought to be a corrupt form of Mithra. Matara is corresponds to Myouken. Matara has two subordinate gods, as Roman Mithra has Cautes and Cautopates, Zoroastrian Mithra has Sraosha and Rashnu.

Matara has a unique mystery.

Japanese Mithra is the most important representative of Simorghian cultre. Dualistic element is hardly seen in Japanese spirituality. Japanese Mithra is Simorghian Mithra. • He has little characteristics of a warrior as Roman and Zoroastrian Mithra. • He is benevolent and peaceful.
