    Overview

    The Chemicals Business Division is active in three business segments: Commodity Chemicals such as petrochemical products and basic raw materials; Functional Chemicals, including synthetic resins and specialty chemicals; and Life Sciences, which covers our food additives, pharmaceuticals/agricultural chemicals. Our primary function is to provide basic raw materials for petrochemical products, industrial salt and ammonia, plastics, specialty chemicals, and agricultural chemicals. In addition, we provide various products and services to a wide range of industries in Korea. While contributing to Korean Chemical Industry through export, import, and cross-trade of chemical products, our chemical business division also provides necessary skills, finances, investments, and market intelligence to Korean Chemical Companies based on their needs.     We deal mainly with fishery products, namely the export of frozen tuna to Japan for sashimi and as a raw material for canned foods and the import of farmed salmon from Chile and Norway to Korea.     Overview

    The Pohang Liaison Office of the Seoul Branch was established in 1971, when construction began on the Pohang steel mill of the Pohang Iron and Steel Company (todays POSCO), which was founded in 1968. The Kwangyang Liaison Office of the Seoul Branch was established in 1985, when the construction of POSCOs Kwangyang steel mill was already well underway.The two offices have acted as the base of operations for the construction of the POSCO steel mills for many years, supporting the supply of steel mill equipment based on contracts signed by MC. They also provide full support to chief technicians of Japanese steel mill equipment manufacturers in undertaking their onsite management duties while, at the same time, acting as coordinators between POSCO and manufacturers to ensure the successful conclusion of contracts.By providing comprehensive services to the construction sites, MC Korea has managed to build an unwavering relationship of trust with POSCO, and is now making significant contributions to the advancement of POSCOs operations by securing the quality of steel mill construction sites, supplying equipment ahead of schedule to allow the early operation of steel mill equipment, effectively carrying out its contracts, and providing follow-up services after the equipment goes into operation.

    Samyang Innochem Corporation (2009)

    A joint venture between Samyang Corporation (specializing in food, chemicals, and pharmaceuticals) and Mitsubishi Corporation, Samyang Innochem Corporation produces materials for engineering plastic (Bisphenol A).

    MC Pavilion (2013)

    A joint venture between Koreas Pavilion Group and MC, MC Pavilion sells the financial products of Mitsubishi Group to Korean institutional investors.

    MITSUBISHI ELEVATOR KOREA (2001)

    A joint venture among Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, Mitsubishi Electric Building Techno-Service Co., Ltd and MC, MITSUBISHI ELEVATOR KOREA manufactures, sells, installs and repairs elevators.

    PMC TECH (2015)

    A merger between Posco Chemtech and MC/Mitsubishi Chemical Corp., PMC TECH distills the by-products from POSCO Gwangyang Steel Mill to produce value added secondary products, such as Needle Coke (material for graphite electrodes). Pilot production began in the end of 2015.

    Nisso Namhae Agro Co., Ltd. (2011)

    A joint venture among Nippon Soda Co. Ltd, Namhae Chemical Corp., and MC, Nisso Namhae Agro Co., Ltd. manufactures and sells materials for agricultural chemicals.

    MODEX (2012)

    A joint venture among Metal One, Dongbu Express, and MC Korea, MODEX unloads, stores, and transports steel for automobile applications that is sold to Hyundai Motors. It was the first to introduce the magnet crane to Asia.

    In an effort to prevent fraudulent accounting and promote the drafting and disclosure of reliable accounting information, MC Korea established the Accounting Manual and Official Authority Regulations, among others, in addition to Internal Accounting Management regulations. The team responsible for managing and organizing such manuals and regulations works under the Internal Audit Office.

    With the adoption of internal regulations, MC Korea prioritizes compliance as the responsibility of all executives and employees. Every year, we conduct various activities to promote this issue, such as hosting compliance seminars for all executives and employees and holding compliance discussions.

    and are implemented in four main areas: international exchange; education, culture, and the arts; assistance to disabled persons and revival activities; and

    International Exchange

    In an effort to invigorate mutual exchange between Korea and Japan and keep friendly relations, MC Korea is

    now developing a program where Korean college students can have lots of experiences, like doing the volunteer work or visiting some

    companies in Japan. Besides, we are participating an event, named Korea-Japan Exchange Festival Hanmadang, which involves actively

    communicating with private organization, local organizations, and young people.
