A paragraph that is organized in the manner of Chronological Order is usually started with a topic sentence and continued by following the time frame. The event starting first precedes others. The rest of the paragraph follows the same principle.

The following is an example of a paragraph telling the reader about the history of the European Union (EU).

Nowadays the world’s most important regional trading bloc is the European Union (EU). The EU originated when the European Coal and Steel Community was set up with a purpose

to restore those two industries after World War II. In 1957, when six member countries signed the Treaty of Rome, the European Economic Community (ECC) was established. Then in 1958, a third organization, the European Atomic Energy Community, was created. These three organizations formed the European Community (EC). In 1993, the name of the EC was changed to the European Union (EU) as a result of the Maastricht Treaty.

AT a Trade Exhibition (VDO Script)

Situation: A businessman from a foreign country visits a trade exhibition organized by the Department of Export Promotion held at the Queen Sirikit Convention Center. He is interested in a product shown in a booth there and wants to get more information.

Visitor: Oh, this is great. This is what my company is looking for.Booth holder: I'm glad to hear that. What can I do to assist you, sir? Visitor: Well, I'll have to report to my boss in Japan about your interesting products.

It will be very helpful for me to have a catalogue

showing pictures of your products, the model numbers and prices.

Booth holder: Certainly, sir. And could you please give me your business card so that I can keep a record and give a report to the export manager?
