Stonehenge: a man-made wonder of the world

Stonehenge is an ancient circle of stones in the south of England. It is about 5,000 years old. It was probably a place to bury dead people or a place to study the stars and the sky at night. There are dozens of stones, and they are different in height. The stones came from about 200 kilometres away.

Some of the stones are missing, but it is still

one of the most wonderful sights of the world.

It is a wonder also because of this question:

How did ancient people move these huge

stones without machines to help them? No one

knows the answer.

小贴示： 表示位置移动的词如 come, go, leave, arrive,

fly 等，常用现在进行时的形式表示打算或按计划将要发生的动作。如：

「一般将来时的展示」意义： 1. 计划或打算要做的动作； 2. 将要发生的动作或存在的状态。构成： 1. be going to + 动词原形； 2. shall / will + 动词原形。如： He is going to Beijing next week. 他下周要去北京。小贴示： there be 一般将来时的结构： there is / are going to be there will be 。如： There is going to/will be a film this evening. 今晚将有一场电影。

「一般过去时的展示」意义：一般过去时表示过去的动作或状态。 如： We went to the cinema yesterday.

昨天我们去看电影了。小贴示： used to 用于过去时，表示过去常常……。 如： I used to take a walk in the morning.

我以前常常早晨散步。

「过去进行时的展示」意义：过去进行时表示过去某一时刻或过去某

一阶段正在进行的动作。如：The phone rang while I was watching TV on the

sofa. 当我正在沙发上看电视时，电话铃响了。小贴示： while 从句中的动词不能是瞬间性动词，所以

当 when 从句中的动词是延续性动词时， when 才可以用 while 来代替。

The phone rang while / when Mr Wang was sleeping on the sofa. 当王先生正在沙发上睡觉时，电话铃响了。

小贴示： have/has been to 意为“曾经去过某地”，表示一经历； have/has gone to 意为“到

某地去了”。如：My father has been to Beijing twice.

「现在完成时的展示」意义：现在完成时表示某一动作对现在造成的影响或结果，也可表示过去发生的事一直持续到现在。如： He have taught here for fifteen years. 我在这儿已经教了十五年书了。
