10 Unique
Architectural
Structures in China
It is widely known that China is home to
impressive architecture, ranging from the
Great Wall to the White Horse Temple to
the Forbidden City. These places are very
popular among tourists, and for good
reason. However, there are some
structures that are not as well known, but
certainly deserve recognition for their
unique qualities. Here is a list of five such
structures.
1. Star Trek Enterprise Building-
Fuzhou
Built by game developer Liu Dejian, this
replica of the Star Trek USS Enterprise
spacecraft houses Dejian’s company,
NetDragon Websoft. Inside, you will find
30-foot slides made of metal for quick
access to the ground level, automatic
sliding doors between rooms, and a huge
replica of a T-Rex. It is 853-feet long and
cost over $116 million to build.
2. The Piano House- Huainan
This piano and violin shaped building was
built by students studying architecture at
Hefei University of Technology in 2007.
The main part of the house is located in
the grand piano which can be accessed via
a staircase in the glass violin. It currently
2
serves as showroom for the newly created
district of Shannan in Huainan City,
China.
3. The Beijing Tianzi Hotel
Known for being China’s largest image
building, this hotel features gods Lu, Fu,
and Shou. The figure on the left in orange
and blue (Shou) is holding a peach, which
is actually a hotel suite.
4. CCTV Headquarters- Beijing
With 54 floors, this building houses the
headquarters of the China Central
Television. It is here that most of China’s
television broadcasts are filmed, produced
and broadcast.
5. Henan Arts Center- Zhengzhou
Home to a grand theater, an art gallery, a
concert hall, VIP lounges, and a museum,
the structure of this building was inspired
by ancient Chinese wind instruments.
Although not particularly obvious, the
instruments portrayed are the Xun, Bone
Flute, and Pan-Flute.

Employer Qualifies
to Sponsor You as a
Graduate or

Worker with BC
PNP
The Skills Immigration and Express Entry
British Columbia streams of the BC PNP
are employer-driven and are designed to
help B.C. businesses attract and retain
international workers and students to meet
B.C.’s labour market needs.
Employer Responsibilities
Your employer must:
ensure that the company meets the
general employer requirements
below,
issue you a written offer of
employment,
3
complete the Employer sections of
the application forms, and
notify the BC PNP if there are any
changes in your employment status
– such as whether you have been
promoted, terminated, laid off, on
extended leave, or if the business
has closed or changed ownership.
General Employer Requirements
Your employer must meet specific
requirements in order to support your BC
PNP application. These include:
be established as an employer in
good standing in B.C.,
have indeterminate, full-time
employees,
have a history of good workplace
and business practices,
a signed employer declaration,

industry standards.

the following public sector and non-profit
organizations with a permanent
establishment in B.C.:
provincial and regional health care
authorities and agencies,

and training institutions,
private non-profit post-secondary
institutions that are accredited by,
or registered with, The Private

Government of Canada or the
Province of B.C. conducting
research in natural and applied
sciences, engineering, computer
and information systems, or health
sciences,
provincial/federal/municipal
government organizations and
agencies, and
other non-profit groups registered
as charitable organizations and
incorporated under the Society Act
(RSBC 1996) or the Canada
Corporations Act, Part II, 1970.
Ineligible Employers
The BC PNP will not approve applications
from:
employers involved in producing,
distributing or selling

The Electronic
Travel
Authorization
There is a new entry requirement now in
effect: visa-exempt foreign nationals need
4
an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA)
to fly to or transit through Canada.
Exceptions include U.S. citizens, and
travellers with a valid Canadian visa.
Canadian citizens, including dual citizens,
and Canadian permanent residents cannot
apply for an eTA.
An eTA:
is an entry requirement for
travellers from visa-exempt
countries who fly to or transit
through Canada,
is valid for up to five years or until
the passport you used to apply for
your eTA expires, and
allows you to travel to Canada
many times, and stay for up to six
months (the border officer will tell
you how long you can stay).
Applying for an eTA is a simple online
process. Most applicants get their eTA
approval (via an email) within minutes.
However, some requests can take several
days to process if you're asked to submit
supporting documents. It is best to get an
eTA before you book your flight to
Canada.
What you need to complete the form
and pay for your eTA
You will need:
a valid passport from a visa-
exempt country
o If you are a lawful
permanent resident of the
U.S. and you do not have a
passport, you can apply
for an eTA with:
a valid U.S.
Refugee Travel
Document (I-571)
a valid Permit to
Re-Enter the United
States (I-327)
a valid email address, AND
one of the following acceptable
methods of payment to pay the $7
CAD fee (non-refundable):
o Visa®, MasterCard®,
American Express®,
o a pre-paid Visa®,
MasterCard® or American
Express®,
o Visa Debit,
o JCB Card, or
o Interac
Important reminders
You can't apply for an eTA if you are a:
Canadian citizen, including a dual
Canadian citizen – make sure to
travel with a valid Canadian
passport
Canadian permanent resident, or
U.S. citizen (but lawful permanent
residents of the U.S. need an eTA
if travelling by air).
You can't apply for an eTA using a:
Refugee Travel Document,
Organization of American States
(OAS) Travel Document,
UN Laissez-Passer, or
Travel document issued to non-
citizens or an Alien’s passport.
(The information is from the CIC Canada Website and is
