“Ser apóstoles de misericordia significa tocar y acariciar las llagas de Jesús

REDIMIDOS ¿Recuerdas a Pedro la noche que arrestaron a Jesús? Insistía en que nunca había oído de Jesús. Hoy estamos llamados a unirnos a Pedro en dar testimonio del nombre de Jesús como lo hace en la primera lectura, y a proclamar nuestro amor a él tal como lo hace Pedro en el pasaje del Evangelio. La poderosa imagen de la visión de san Juan en la segunda lectura del libro del Apocalipsis nos enseña la comunidad a la que pertenecemos cuando tenemos fe en el nombre de Jesús. Nos unimos a todos los seres vivientes “miles y millones” en “el cielo, sobre la tierra, debajo de ella y en el mar, y todo lo que hay en ellos” (Apocalipsis 5:11, 13). La majestad y dignidad expresadas en cada lectura están en profundo contraste con la oscura y miserable imagen de Pedro y los otros apóstoles en los momentos en que Jesús era arrestado, juzgado y crucificado. ¡Qué alivio que todos podemos ser tan totalmente redimidos!

REDEMPTION Do you remember Peter on the night Jesus was arrested? He claimed he had never heard of Jesus. Today we are called to join Peter in testifying to the name of Jesus as he does in the first reading, and in proclaiming our love for him as Peter does in the Gospel passage. The powerful imagery of John’s vision in the second reading from the book of Revelation shows us the company we keep when we have faith in the name of Jesus. We join all living creatures, “countless in number” from “heaven, earth, under the earth, in the sea; everything in the universe” (Revelation 5:11, 13). The dignity and majesty described in each reading are in stark contrast to the dark and pitiful image of Peter and the other apostles at the time of Jesus’ arrest, trial, and crucifixion. What a relief that we can all be redeemed so completely!

El Acoso (“Bul ly ing”) – Parte II ¿Qué podemos hacer para mantener seguros a nuestros hijos? Anime a los jóvenes a hablar sobre el acoso (también conocido como intimidación o “bullying”). Asegúreles que les escuchará y tomará medidas si vienen a usted. Preste atención a las señales que indican que los niños y jóvenes están siendo intimidados, como súplicas para no ir a la escuela, enfermedades leves inexplicables, y problemas para dormir. Abogue por políticas claras sobre el acoso en el en-torno escolar, y para que la prevención del acoso se trate en el salón de clases. Capacite a los jóvenes para que, cuando ven que al-guien es acosado, digan algo como: "¿Sabes qué? Eso no me parece divertido", y luego se alejen. April is Child Abuse Prevention Month

Bully ing Part II So…what can we do to keep our children safe?

Encourage young people to talk about bully-ing. Assure them you will listen and take action if they come to you.

Look for signs that children and young people are being bullied, such as requests to stay home from school, unexplained mild ill-nesses, and problems sleeping.

Advocate for clear policies about bullying in School settings and for bullying preven-tion to be addressed in the classroom.

Empower young people to speak up when they see someone being bullied by saying something like, “You know what, I don’t think that’s funny,” and walkng away. This changes the dynamic by depriving the one who bullies of an audience.

If you are concerned about bullying in a school setting, talk to the principal.

Eucharistic Fasting CCC-1387: To prepare for worthy reception of this sacrament, the faithful should observe the fast required in their Church. A person who is to receive the Most Holy Eucharist is to abstain for at least one hour before holy communion from any food and drink, except for only water and medicine. Bodily demeanor (gestures, clothing) ought to convey the respect, solemnity, and joy of this moment when Christ becomes our guest.

Cristo Pantocrátor

La palabra Pantocrátor es de origen griego significado "todo poderoso". Cristo Pantocrátor es un icono de Cristo representado completo o medio cuerpo y cara completa . Sobre la cabeza de Cristo estan las letras "IC" y "XC", una abreviatura de cuatro le t ras ampliamente utilizadas en griego para indicar Cristo Jesús (IHCOYC) (XPICTOC). Tiene el libro de los Evangelios en su mano izquierda y bendice con su mano derecha. La colocación de la mano, repet ido por e l c lero a l bendecir a los demás, también es

rico en significado. Los dedos muestran las cuatro letras Chris togram "IC XC". El icono de Cristo Pantocrátor es la imagen más antigua conocida de Jesús Cristo en existencia. La imagen representa las dos naturalezas de Cristo: humanidad y divinidad. El icono se cree que fue pintado en el año 550 y ha es tado en el monasterio de Santa Catalina en Egipto por casi 1500 años. El icono representa a Cristo como el juez justo y amante de la humanidad, ambos al igual. El libro es el Evangelio, cuando está abierto, significa a Cristo como el maestro; cuando está cerrado, es el juez, con el veredicto final que sólo El conoce, y la bendición proclama la bondad de Dios hacia nosotros, que nos muestra que Él nos da su perdón. este mundo. Los grandes ojos abiertos miran directamente hacia el alma del público. La alta frente curvada muestra sabiduría. La nariz larga y delgada es un aspecto de nobleza, la pequeña boca cerrada el s i lencio de la contemplación. Es la tradición de la iglesia representar "Dios está con nosotros" por el gran icono del Pantocrátor dentro de la cúpula central, o el techo de la iglesia.

Christ Pantocrator

The word Pantocrator is of Greek origin meaning "ruler of all". Christ Pantocrator is an icon of Christ represented full or half-length and full-faced. Above Chris t ’s Head are the letters “IC” and “XC”, a widely used four letter abbreviation of the Greek for Jesus (IHCOYC) Christ (XPICTOC). He holds the book of the Gospels in his left hand and blesses with his right hand. The arrangement of the hand, repeated by clergy when blessing others, is also rich in meaning. The fingers spell out the four-letter Christogram “IC XC. The Christ Pantocrator icon is the oldest known image of Jesus Christ in existence. The image depicts the two natures of Christ: Humanity and Divinity. The icon is believed to have been painted in about the year 550 and has been at St. Catherine's Monastery in Egypt for over nearly 1500 years. The icon portrays Christ as the Righteous Judge and the Lover of Mankind, both at the same time. The Gospel is the book, when the book is open, it signifies Christ as the Teacher; when it is closed, He is the Judge, with the final verdict known only to Himself, and the blessing proclaims God 's loving kindness toward us, showing us that He is giving us his forgiveness. Christ is not pictured with a crown or scepter as other kings of this world. The large open eyes look directly into the soul of the viewer. The high curved forehead shows wisdom. The long slender nose is a look of nobility, the small closed mouth, the s i lence of contemplation. It is the tradition of the Church to depict "God is with us" by having the large Pantocrator icon inside of the central dome, or cei l ing of the church.
