• Iran went through lots of religious changes.. • Religions that have effected Iran are: Shia Muslim (89%).

Sunni Muslims in Iran constitute about 9% of the population and the remaining 2% of Iranians are from ‘other’ religions – primarily Zoroastrian, Christian and Jewish.

• Other then that NO WOMAN is safe from domestic violence.• According to an old Iranian saying: "Women should sacrifice themselves

and tolerate." That's how many if not most women deal with domestic violence.

• Under the civil code a woman has the duty to submit to her husband and this is called 'tamkin’

• Means submitting to his sexual demands so effectively you have a marital rape exemption under the Iranian law

€ĎυζÄŦĨÔŇ ÍŊ ÌŘÄŇ• Care so much about education• Parents go in debts to get there children good education.• The clergy, both Shia and non-Shia, assumed responsibility for instructing

youth in basic literacy and the fundamentals of religion.• By the early twentieth century there were several schools teaching foreign

languages and sciences, including a few for girls. These schools were run by foreign missionaries, private Iranians, and the government.

ΓÂΜÍĽÝ ĮŇ ÏŘ@Ŋ• The family has been valued as the main social institution in the

Islamic and pre-Islamic cultures of Iran. • The emphasis on early marriage is partly based on the extremely

negative attitude toward premarital sex and a belief that men and women who remain unmarried after early puberty risk engaging in forbidden sexual gratification.

• Islamic regime encouraged early marriage.• Average age at first marriage during the period

between 1976 and 1996 actually increased from 19.7 to 22.4 for women, and from 24.1 to 25.6 for men.

• The family members are very close to each other, and very dependent upon the core (I mean the elders).

• Children usually stay with parents before marriage, and even after that they stay very connected with them.

• Family structure is based on "respecting the olders”.
