Business Systems Department

• Business Systems Implementation The Business Systems Implementation team is responsible for project managing the implementation of Business System solutions across TNT Express globally. The team consists of Project Leaders based in Atherstone and Project Managers based throughout the TNT countries operating as one virtual team, who work closely with the all ICS teams in order to deliver an implementation pack for the system being implemented. This implementation pack includes the implementation guides, work package checklists, standard forms and templates thus ensuring a consistent approach for implementing any system in any Business Unit.

Business Systems The Business Systems Management (BSM) team is responsible for the Business System requirements and architecture supporting the TNT Express functions. The team works closely with the business to document the business requirements, the business processes, the system analysis and the business benefits for all projects. Regular communication and updates are provided by the BSM team to the appropriate management teams, Re-engineering groups, the Excellence groups, the Express Steering committee and the Express Board. The successful candidate will be expected to provide support within the BSM group relating to the ongoing common systems initiatives.

Roles & Responsibilities Work with colleagues to investigate and model business functions, processes, information flows and

data structures, using methodical and consistent techniques. Work with colleagues to investigate operational requirements and problems, seeking effective

business solutions through improvements in information systems, data management, processes/procedures, organisation and equipment. Ensures that account is taken of any potential safety-related aspects of work undertaken, using appropriate techniques, tools and methods.

Work with colleagues to produce business and systems use cases and supporting UML diagrams, such as, Activity Diagrams and Sequence Diagrams.

Work with the systems designers to ensure that the requirements are well understood. Support the day-to-day activities of the build team, during the development stage of the project

lifecycle. Work as part of a team to analyse the underlying issues arising from investigations into

requirements and problems, and identifies available options for consideration. Work with colleagues in specifying information flows, processes/procedures, and data objects that

will meet the business requirements. Consult with specialists in areas such as software engineering, data management, communications, and service delivery and takes account of their recommendations.

Required to apply available standards, methods and tools in an intelligent and effective way and produce a consistently high standard of documentation of both a technical and a descriptive nature.

Arrange, prepare and provide support during meetings, workshops and presentations for a wide variety of audiences, demonstrating consistently high attention to detail.

Infrastructure and Service Delivery

Technical Infrastructure Analyst - Windows Support Team This team is responsible for 3rd Level Windows Server Support and Administration. The team has technical ownership of all of TNT's Windows Server based business critical systems. Tasks include the restoration of service following issues with said environment. It also includes the administration of the estate to include daily health-checks, regular patch updating of the OS and associated solutions such as Citrix etc.

The successful candidate will learn how a Windows environment is operated and managed within a world-wide organisation, and will acquire knowledge on Windows architecture, application deployment and support services. The successful candidate will also gain

TNT Express ICS appreciation of associated technologies such as PC, Server and network configurations, domain designs, data access reliability and availability, disaster recovery and support principles.

Web Services Application Performance Monitoring Reporting to the WAS and Portal Services Manager, you will be responsible for a number of key disciplines within the team. The roles and responsibilities will include monitoring, incident detection and notification, rapid triage, root-cause analysis and historical data reporting. The successful candidate will also be required to complete day-to-day support of TNT’s Websphere monitoring tools of which run on a Linux platform, and will be required on a day to day basis to use file transfer protocols such as FTP, WinSCP, XML/Java, Shell scripting and preferably an understanding of TCP/IP concepts would be of benefit.

We are looking for a confident individual with good interpersonal skills who is familiar with the Linux/Unix operating system, who can be a part of a good and productive team and contribute within an excellent working environment. Awareness in business to business communications and concepts will be an advantage. The successful applicant will be trained on all technical aspects of these monitoring tools and then to further increase your skills, you will be trained how to develop and implement these improvements and get exposure into certain aspects of IBM WebSphere Application Server, Portal Server and HTTP Servers. Once training has been completed, the successful candidate will provide the day-to-day support of these tools.

• Database Administration (DBA) The Common Systems Infrastructure DBA team is responsible for the design, implementation and support of Oracle and SQLServer databases supporting TNT Express business requirements. Currently supporting about 300 mainly Oracle production databases, and an active array on dynamic test environments databases required by applications in different stages of the project lifecycle. This role will involve learning and understanding Oracle Application Express that will enable the development of Web based applications required by the DBA team for environment management. This will also act as a central infrastructure pilot project to transfer local database and spreadsheet utilities into a centrally managed industrial strength shared environment.

• Understand analysis and concepts of relational database design• Keen to learn about Oracle database administration• Keen on application development• Understand Excel, Microsoft Access would also be an advantage• Knowledge of SQL• Ability to work to deadlines and on own initiative• Good attention to detail• Be confident with people in order to; extract the requirement, demonstrate the system build, train the

Messaging and Data Transformation Reporting to the Messaging and Data Transformation Team Leader, you will be responsible for a number of key disciplines within the team. After your training, alongside the current placement student, you will provide the day-to-day support of ENGIN (Enterprise Generic Integrator), a key Business to Business application. The main technical responsibilities of the role include detailed support for the ENGIN EDI tool, management of secure FTP servers and the upkeep and distribution of ENGIN documents and knowledge.

You will be trained on all technical aspects of the tool, and will be encouraged to use the skills you develop to identify and recommend improvements to the infrastructure and business process within the team. To further increase your skills, you will then be trained how to develop and implement these improvements. We are looking for an individual who is familiar with using Linux/Unix, although training will be provided to bring your skills up to the required level. An interest in business to business communications

This is an excellent opportunity to improve your technical skills on a software platform which is a key part of the computer industry. In addition, it is an ideal opportunity to increase your interpersonal and communication skills, which are an essential tool for all future job roles.

Mobile and Peripheral Analyst The team provide governance, best practice, control and support for peripheral equipment within TNT Express. This equipment includes but is not limited to, handheld and wearable computers, data capture devices, such as barcode scanners, desktop and portable label printers, volumetric measuring devices and scales, smart phone and Blackberry devices. The applicant will assist in the areas of device support, supplier management, process management, change management, best practice documentation, production of technical guides and provide a point of technical reference.

As qualifications in this area are unlikely to have been attained the applicant will need to possess a good conceptual understanding of applications, hardware platforms, operating systems and wireless networks. An ability to understand mechanical processes and to apply logical reasoning to problems is vital. Experience of the following would be beneficial; MS Windows Pocket PC / Mobile / CE, mobile device technical capabilities and limitations, printer technical capabilities and limitations, WiFi Authentication methods and an understanding of the 802.11 standard and mobile email methods.

Web Analyst The CSI Internet team are responsible for the TNT Express Internet and Intranet Infrastructure used by over 70 countries worldwide and accessed by in excess of 150,000 visitors a day. The team support a number of leading enterprise class applications including content management, application servers, web servers, performance monitoring, web analytics and search engine optimisation. In support of our wide user base, the position of Web Analyst will continue the work of the existing placement student in the areas of web user behaviour, search engine optimisation and e-learning, In addition the Web Analyst will be involved in the support and development of our global content management system.

Key responsibilities of the position will be: the development of the Web Analytics environment the development of the Search Engine Optimisation measurement and reporting

environment development of best practice and user training material the creation of routine and ad-hoc reports

The position requires strong analytical skills and a commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. Previous experience of working with web sites, web site analytics or user training/e-learning tools would be advantageous.

Performance Test Services Team This team assists development teams in identifying the causes of slow performance within the business applications and demonstrating the effects of performance fixes. The role involves writing / editing test scripts (Web/html), running test scenarios, producing test reports, working with other teams, documenting business processes for applications under test and assisting with investigation, diagnosis and resolution of problems. The role involves use of a variety of Windows applications including Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes, HP OpenView Service Desk, HP LoadRunner and Internet Browser. Application test environments include technologies such as J2EE, Websphere, Linux / Unix and Oracle. Prior knowledge

TNT Express ICS and experience with any of these applications or technologies would be an advantage but is not essential as training will be provided.

The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate good interpersonal skills, willingness to work with other people, a positive and flexible attitude, a proactive approach to solving problems and the ability to manage and plan their own work. This position will be based in Atherstone with the possibility of international travel

Service Transition - Software Distribution Reporting to the Software Distribution Team Leader, you will be actively involved in a number of key disciplines within the team. Once training has been completed you will assist with testing and implementing applications and systems software to distributed systems (Linux, Unix and Windows), internet systems, and remote mobile devices. Ideally we are looking for a person with some experience in Unix, Windows or Linux or Mobile Devices. The position would also suit someone with strong administrative skills who is preferably familiar with Microsoft Office, wishing to make the transition to an I.T. position.

Roles & Responsibilities Implement application releases and other changes to Unix and Linux servers in

accordance with ICS and team standards and make arrangements to ensure those changes are properly supported

Implement application releases to remote devices (e.g. handheld scanners) in accordance with ICS and team standards.

Assist with change related project work. Contribute to investigation and resolution of problems and incidents. Ensure that incidents and problems with systems and services are fully documented

within the problem reporting system. Produce and update technical documentation and procedures for use by other members

of the team.

This role requires somebody with strong administrative skills and a methodical approach to work along with being self-motivated with a positive attitude and a proactive approach to the job. The ability to co-ordinate a variety of actions concurrently is also required.

Change Management An exciting opportunity has arisen for a student seeking exposure to IT Service Management and Global IT Change Management processes, aligned to the ITIL framework. The role involves the management of change, ensuring risk is mitigated; changes are planned, coordinated and communicated to the relevant parties. This gives you an insight into many departments and will expose you to a wide variety of applications, teams and people within Express ICS. The role also includes support and governance for the TNT worldwide community with regards to Change Management processes. This role will enable you to communicate at all levels from Business Users and Technical Teams to Senior Management. There is contact with all Global Change Management teams in Australia, Italy, Benelux, Germany and France enhancing key skills which can be used later on in your degree. Attention to detail and the willingness to learn quickly are imperative.

Software Administrator An opportunity for a Software Administrator has arisen within the Service Development team. The role is very much Service Management (ITIL) focused and will be primarily involved in the administration and maintenance of the globally deployed HP Service Desk and Westbury Self Service Portal product suites.

The successful candidate will possess a keen and proven interest in IT and a high level of inter-personal communication skills as the role is required to interact with all teams within the global Express ICS organisation. With a sound understanding of using Windows products i.e. XP, Excel and Word, excellent written skills, the ability to work towards deadlines and work as part of a project team are essential, as is a questioning and analytical mind.

Problem & Availability Administrator An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Problem & Availability Management Team for a self motivated Problem & Availability Administrator reporting directly to the Problem and Availability Manager. The role of the Problem and Availability Administrator is to reduce the impact to ICS services through Business Service Level Reporting and the proactive identification of trends. The role will require you to communicate at all levels from Business Users and Technical Teams to Senior Management and ICS Regional Directors and therefore excellent written and verbal skills are essential.

Systems Development Department

Development Process, Tools and Project Support Team We have a position working in the Development Process, Tools and Project Support Team. Reporting directly to the Application Delivery Manager this varied role will provide support to the Systems Development department. Main responsibilities include providing essential project and end-user support, installing and administering tools software, developing and maintaining tool user guides and documentation, dealing with users’ problems and queries in practice, maintaining the tool licence inventory and deployment and updating the development process website.

Some knowledge of the Rational Unified Process (RUP) would be an advantage as would knowledge of HTML. Training will be provided where necessary.

• Project Support – Sales, Customer Service and Administration Working within the Sales, Customer Service and Administration system development Team, this varied role will provide project support to a range of development projects within the Common Systems programme.

• Customer and Groupware Solutions The CIT department is responsible for any electronic interface between TNT and our Customers around the globe. At the heart of our Customer self service offerings stands tnt.com which is available to over 200 countries world-wide in 46 languages. We are looking for a highly motivated and forward thinking individual who will be required to work within the Internet development team to further advance the competitive edge of the tnt.com and mytnt products.

Roles and responsibilities include develop and maintain internet applications using java, javascript, HTML and OO/UML techniques and test applications under development.

• Enterprise Data Warehouse The Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) supports analysis, reporting and scorecarding for users on a global scale. The requirement of this position is to support the business users by designing; implementing and supporting quality systems using industry software packages such as those provided by IBM and SAP. These include Cognos Powerplay and Cognos Impromptu. Role and Responsibilities• Creating and reviewing cubes and reports using industry software packages • Writing data load scripts and data extraction scripts• Work with team members effectively• Creating user support documentation• Help support daily activities for the EDW department• Giving access to the Data Warehouse to users worldwide• Supporting customers through telephone calls and emails

Systems Development – Global Operations Test Team We have a vacancy within the Systems Development Global Operations Test Team for a Trainee Test Analyst reporting into a Test Team Leader. Global Operations hold responsibility for the applications that aid the core processing of consignments within TNT. The role involves the planning, design, and management of tests (including test execution and reporting).

Responsibilities

Production of test cases and test scripts with expected results to be executed by self or other team members.

Analysis of business and systems requirements, including ensuring requirement follow standards and attending requirements workshops.

Identification and preparation of data to support the tests Execution of tests and analysis of results Aid with the testing of production support fixes of applications Documentation of defects within Defect Management tools according to standards Communication of test results to development team and/or Project Test Lead/ Test Team Leader

Skills RequiredWe are looking for an individual with a systematic, disciplined and analytical approach to work, who will pay close attention to detail. They should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work well under pressure and as part of a team as well as flexibility in order to work across a number of different applications.

Non-Technical Placements

• Project Office Support The provision of project support for a team of project managers within the Common Systems Infrastructure Projects (CSIP) department, responsible for infrastructure projects in a multi-national organisation. CSIP primarily delivers services regarding the implementations of Express ICS Common System solutions. CSIP consists of a project management team delivering cross functional enterprise infrastructure projects in support of Common Systems.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Finance and Administration Responsibilities include processing of incoming invoices, resolving queries and filing. Purchase order closing, monitor and replenish consumable stock levels. Journal creation and journal input, producing business cards, distribute department mail and organise CD archiving. Collate and distribute the ISB’s. Provide support for other team members with other ad-hoc duties. You must be able to liaise with all levels of Express ICS staff.

TNT Express ICS The applicant will ideally have a background in office administration and accountancy, have some experience of working in a busy fast pace environment, good organiser and be able to prioritize workload. Having experience of working in an office environment would be an advantage.

Skills required for all positions: Those who wish to apply should be studying for a business, IT or discipline related degree.

The successful applicants will be IT literate and will have experience of using email e.g. Lotus notes and the Microsoft Office Suite e.g. Word. Excel. PowerPoint.

Candidates must be comfortable with the use of office applications, be a good organiser, enthusiastic, have excellent attention to detail and be able to liaise with all levels of Express ICS staff.

With good communication skills both written and verbal the successful candidate will be able to prioritise tasks, whilst working to tight deadlines. The ability to work competently within a team and as an individual is essential.
