İGEME, which is the only public organiza on in this field, was founded with the aim of developing and promo ng Turkish exports. In line with its objec ve İGEME acts as an intermediary in establishing business contacts between foreign importers and Turkish exporters.

Thus, it contributes to both par es providing a two-way service, enlightening Turkish businessmen and furnishing foreign importers with informa on on economic condi ons, market prospect, exporters and regula ons in Turkey. İGEME performs this func on in a series of ac vi es which can be categorized in five main areas; research and development, training, trade informa on, publicity and promo on, and interna onal rela ons.

The Aegean Exporters’ Associa ons, one of the unique examples of public and private sector coopera on established in Turkey, has built herself into a research, coordina on, decision making and implemen ng ins tu on, which works for the promo on of Turkey’s exports and provides the smooth and func onal running of the rela onships between the exporters and the law making system in a ra onal and dynamic way.

The first Exporters’ Union, Izmir Dried Fruits Exporters’ Union was founded in 1939, and followed by other Associa ons. Working in close collabora on with the Prime Ministry’s Undersecretariat for Foreign Trade, Aegean Exporters’ Associa ons General Secretariat comprises of 12 different associa ons and serves over 4 000 member companies. The annual exports realized by the members of these 12 Associa ons account for approximately 10% of Turkey’s total exports.
