What’s New at the Fair ?

Part  of  the  fun  of  coming  to  the  Fair  is   experiencing   all   your   favorite  foods,   rides   and   exhibits.   But   we  always   want   to   bring   you   new  things  to  do,  eat  and  see!    This  year's  theme  is  CARS,  and  we're  planning  all   sorts  of   fun  new  things  to   see   and   do,   including   bringing  fabulous  new  and  classic  cars  to  the  Theme  Exhibit  (presented  by  Jeffrey  ScoL  Fine  MagneNcs).    Please   check   our   website   at  www.SDFAIR.COM   starNng   in   LATE  APRIL,   when   we   expect   to   begin  announcing   more   of   our   exciNng  new  plans  for  this  year’s  Fair!            

FAIR  ADMISSION  ADULTS  :  $13.00  AGES  62+  :  $7.00  

Ages  6-­‐12:  $7.00  (Free  on  Tuesdays)  Ages  5  and  younger:  FREE

KIDS’  DAY  Kids’  Day  is  back!    Every  TUESDAY  kids  ages  12  and  younger  get  FREE  admission  to  the  fair.      $2  TASTE  OF  THE  FAIR  Kids   and   adults   alike   will   enjoy   this   popular  promoNon  at  the  100-­‐plus  Fair  food  booths.    Smaller  porNons   of   popular   food   items  will   be   available   for  just  $2.00.

PADDOCK  CONCERT  SERIES    

The   Paddock   Concert   Series   features   naNonally  known   performers   on   Tuesdays,   Wednesdays   and  Thursdays   (plus   “bonus”   weekend   concerts)   in   the  Fair's  most   inNmate   concert   sewng.   These   concerts  begin  at  9  p.m.  on  the  Paddock  Stage.  They  are  FREE  with  Fair  admission,  and  there  is  no  reserved  seaNng.  

                                                             ROCK  ON  STAGE    

The   Coors   Light   Rock   On   Stage   late-­‐night   lineup  features   the   best   singers   and   bands   in   Southern  California  and  the  Southwest,   including  some  of  the  most  outstanding  tribute  bands  in  the  naNon.      All   ages   are   welcome   to   aLend   before   8PM;    restricted   to   21   and   up   aner   8PM.   Shows   on   this  stage  are   FREE  with   Fair   admission,   and   there   is   no  reserved  seaNng.  

SOLID  GOLD  SERIES    

The  Solid  Gold  Series  brings  to  the  San  Diego  County  Fair   performers  who  first   achieved   fame  during   the  1960s   and  1970s.   These   2   p.m.   Thursday   shows,   on  the  Paddock  Stage,  are  FREE  with  Fair  admission,  and  there  is  no  reserved  seaNng.

We   are   very   excited   to   announce   that   this   year’s   San  Diego   County   Fair   will   be   hosNng   the   San   Diego  InternaNonal  Beer  FesNval  for  the  finh  year  in  a  row.        The   San   Diego   InternaNonal   Beer   FesNval   has   become  one  of   the   largest   in  the  country  and  conNnues  to  grow  in  popularity  each  year.    The  fesNval  hosts  more  than  150  breweries  and  as  many  as  350  beers  and  counNng   from  all  around  the  world.

Enviro   Fair   is   a   special   event   in   the   Paul   Ecke   Jr.  Flower   and   Garden   Show.     It’s   a   great   event   for  Fairgoers   to   learn  more   about   the   importance   of  recycling,   sustainable   living,   polluNon   prevenNon,  conservaNon,   and   buying   recycled   content   and  environmentally  friendly  products.    Exhibitors  with  environmentally  friendly  products    Eco-­‐Fashion  Show  with  great-­‐looking  clothes  made  from  easily  renewable  fibers  such  as  bamboo    Non-­‐profit  organizaNons  helping  us  learn  new  ways  to  take  beLer  care  of  our  world    InformaNve  speakers    InformaNve  Displays  with  interesNng  facts  and  all  things  about  being  environmentally  conscience.

SUPERSTAR    The   San   Diego   County   Fair   SuperStar   Contest   is   back!  Youth   aged   8   to   17  may   parNcipate   in   this   contest   to  determine   the   best   amateur   singers   in   San   Diego  County.      There  is  a  youth  and  teen  division,  both  with  grand  prizes  of  $500  and  a  trophy!    YOUTH  PRELIMS:  Tuesday,  June  14  YOUTH  FINALS:  Tuesday,  June  21  TEEN  PRELIMS:  Wednesday,  June  15  TEEN  FINALS:  Wednesday,  June  22  ENTRY  DEADLINE:  Friday,  May  13        

A  CAPPELLA  SING  OFF  Groups  of  3  to  10  members  vie  for  cash  prizes  and  regional   recogniNon   in   the   San  Diego  A  Cappella  Sing  Off.    These  groups  sing,  without  the  help  of  instruments   or   background   music,   in   many  different   styles   (i.e.   barbershop,   jazz   vocal,  collegiate,  etc).      CONTEST:  Sunday,  June  19  ENTRY  DEADLINE:  Friday,  May  13  by  5PM    ORATORICAL  COMPETITION  Students,   from   kindergarten   through   grade   12,  compete   for   ribbons,   cash   and   prizes   in   the  Oratorical   CompeNNon:   Slow   and   Steady   Wins  The   Race   at   the   2011   San   Diego   County   Fair.    Individuals   or   groups   up   to   three   members  perform  an  oraNon   (not  a   song),   such  as  original  material,  a  famous  speech,  a  poem  or  a  story.    CONTEST:  Saturday,  June  11  ENTRY  DEADLINE:  Wednesday,  June  1  ENTRY  FEE:  $10.00  Per  ParNcipant    

SAN  DIEGO’S  BEST  DANCE  CREW  Amateur   and   professional   groups   of   five  members   or   more   may   compete.   This   is   a  Hip   Hop   Style   dance   compeNNon   but   other  styles   are   encouraged   for   variety   and   fun!    There   is  a  YOUTH,  TEEN  and  ADULT  division  with  a  grand  prize  of  $1,000  for  1st  place.    CONTEST:  Thursday,  June  23,  2011  ENTRY  DEADLINE:  Friday,  May  13    DJ  MIX  OFF  The   San   Diego   County   Fair   is   hosNng   its  second   DJ   Mix   Off.   DJs   are   the   unsung  heroes   of   every   party   and   nightclub.   They  entertain   us   with   the   great   music   we   love  and  keep  the  party  going  all  night  long.    This  contest   is   open   to   DJs   aged   18   and   older.    The  winner   of   the  Mix  Off  will  win   a   grand  prize  of  $1,000!    CONTEST:  Saturday,  June  18,  2011  ENTRY  DEADLINE:  Friday,  May  13,  2011

 Fireworks  on  July  4th  will  begins  at  9PM  

and  can  be  seen  from  anywhere    in  the  Fairgrounds  and  parking  lots.  

 There  will  be  FREE  OFF-­‐SITE  lots  and  FREE  SHUTTLES  to  the  Fairgrounds.
