What is RDA

• RDA: Resource Description and Access• RDAはAACR2に取って変わる新しい目録規則

– AACR2: Anglo‐American Cataloguing Rules, 2 edtion（英米目録規則第2版）

• RDAの全体的な目的は：資料発見の支援のためのデータ標準化のガイドラインおよび規則 “a set of guidelines and instructions on formulating data to support resource discovery”(0.0)

AACR2とここが違う！

1. FRBRとFRADという理論的なフレームワークに基づいている

2. ディジタル環境のためにデザインされている

3. AACR2より広い範囲を対象としている→図書館だけじゃない、英語圏だけじゃない（ただし、AACR2と強くリンクもしている）

1. FRBRとFRADという理論的なフレームワークに基づいている

• ユーザ– 大規模な書誌データ、典拠データを使う人（＋作る人）

• ユーザのタスク– 大規模な書誌データを使うときによくあるタスク

• find, identify, select, obtain– 大規模な典拠データを使うときによくあるタスク

• find, identify, contextualize (clarify), justify(understand)

• 記録される書誌or典拠データ・・・ERモデルで– Entity（Work, Expression, Manifestation, Item, Person…）– Relationship（Work expressed…）– Attribute（Title proper...）

FRBR&FRADとRDA

• RDAでは、FRBRとFRADのEntity,Attribute,Relationshipやユーザタスク使って、様々な説明が展開される

• RDAでは– どんな Element があり（ある Entity の Attribute か、どの Entity 間の Relationship かなど）

– その Element に何を記述するか（どこからとるか、どのように記述するか）

– その Element は何のためにあり（どのユーザータスクのために必要か？）

• についての説明がある

0.8 Alternatives and Options• RDAのガイドライン、インストラクションには、alternativeまたはoptionとラベル付けられるものが複数ある。– そのガイドラインは直前に書かれたインストラクションに対するものとして提供される

• オプションインストラクションには以下のいずれかのためのものとなる：– A) オプションで追加されるデータ：– B) オプションで省略できるデータ：

• データ作成に責任を持つ機関は、以下のいずれかを選択する：– A) 別法・オプションの適用に関するポリシーを作成する– B) 目録作成者の判断に任せる

0.9 Exceptions

• RDAには「Exceptions」（例外）とラベル付けされたインストラクションもある。

– 特定の種類の資料、状況に適用されるよう、直前のインストラクションに優先するインストラクションとして定義される

0.10 Examples

• 例はそのインストラクションに係るデータのみを例示– ただし、関連エレメントのほうは注釈として書くことも

• 例においては通常、ISBD表現で必要とされる先行する句読点、囲む句読記号法は示していない– ただし、ISBD区切り記号は、関連する資料の構造化された記述を例示する例として用いる。

• 統制アクセスポイント及び非統制アクセスポイントの構築を例示するにあたっては、AACR2における区切り法を用いる

• すべての例はエレメントが英語を第一言語とする機関が記述するものとして例示

0.11 Internalization

• RDAは国際的に使われることを想定。

• RDAでは、以下の４つをサポートする

– 言語と文字

– 数値

– 日付

– 測定単位

• 基本はそのまま転記、データ作成機関による方針のものに差し替え、もしくは追加でもよい

0.12 Encoding RDA Data• RDAは図書館アプリケーションとして使われる、さまざ

まな符号化スキーマで使われるよう設計されている。• 付録D、EにRDAからMARC21形式の書誌・典拠データとのマッピングがある

• RDA外部の語彙符号化スキーマを参照していることも– 例：文字、または言語内容を表現する文字を表現する場合には、ISO15924を参照する

• 特定のエレメントにあっては、RDAの記録指示がRDA内の語彙符号化スキーマを含む場合がある

• RDAで使われるように定義された用語の統制リスト– これらのエレメントにおいて、別の語彙符号化スキーマが出てきた場合、それにおきかえられる場合もある。
