Dear Fellow GACRAO Members,

On behalf of the Georgia Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admission Of-ficers, welcome to the Classic City! What a wonderful time of year to host our 62nd annual GACRAO conference. Fall is in the air and the theme of One Team, One Goal is quite fitting in the midst of football season.

Please spend these few days meeting and reconnecting with colleagues, visiting with our Corporate Partners, attending sessions, and taking time to reflect on the ideas you can take back and implement at your institution.

The Executive Committee, Program Committee, and other volunteers have tire-lessly worked to ensure that this conference will be meaningful to all attendees. President-Elect, David Jenkins, and his Program Committee have created a ro-bust program that is going to make it challenging for you to decide which session to attend. There are eight concurrent sessions for each time slot. Great job! Once you decide which session to attend you will quickly realize that the Georgia Center is a great place to host a conference based on the comfort of the meeting space. In between sessions and during breaks, you can also take advantage of the variety of conversation areas. If you have any questions, ask someone from the Local Arrangements Committee or the knowledgeable and friendly staff at the Georgia Center.

Something new to the conference this year is a Plenary Speaker at the Closing/Business Session. Please make plans to attend the final session of the conference. I promise that you will not be disappointed with the words of wisdom from Louise Hill. Speaking of words of wisdom, Dr. Stuart Gulley will be the keynote speaker at Monday’s lunch.

The Corporate Partners support GACRAO each year and without them there would not be a conference. There are many opportunities for you to meet them, to talk about their products, and to certainly thank them for their support of GACRAO. Also, thank Melody Kesler for doing a tremendous job working to secure corporate partnerships this year.

The list of those to thank for helping make a conference is quite long. So, while reviewing the program to learn more about the concurrent sessions, also make note of the listing of committees. Thank them for their service and find a way to ‘plug-in’ to the organization next year. If you have any questions about GACRAO leadership opportunities, just ask or make plans to attend the GACRAO session.

We are One Team with One Goal!! The team consists of all involved in higher education with the goal of educating peo-ple and changing lives. I have been a part of higher education for over 20 years, and I have never been more excited about the future of our profession.

It has been my pleasure serving as the GACRAO President this year, and I look forward to continuing to be an active part of this fine organization for years to come. GACRAO is more than a professional organization to me; it is family.

Enjoy the conference!

Regards,

Donna H. Webb GACRAO President 2014-15

Strategic Agility: Increasing U lity of Student Informa on

Sunday, 9:00 AM—10:00 AM

Presenter: Dr. Rodney Parks, Elon University

Capitalizing on reten on has never been more important. Enrollment managers must compete to recruit from a

smaller pool of qualified students, o en with fewer resources. By analyzing ins tu onal business processes and

understanding the trends that drive enrollment, these leaders can op mize reten on and iden fy areas of sustain‐

able student growth. For example, many schools have seen decreases in summer enrollment. In contrast, Elon

University has seen a staggering 36% increase in summer credit hours and a 35% increase in enrollment, gener‐

a ng approximately $2.2 million in new revenue. The use of strategic data analysis has empowered Elon with a 360

degree perspec ve of enrollment, enabling faster and more informed innova on. This session will examine Elon’s

ini a ves to grow and maintain enrollment while reducing educa onal costs and also explore how other ins tu‐

ons can model these ini a ves with respect to unique student and ins tu onal needs.

Key elements of session:

· Data analy cs and workflows to iden fy enrollment trends and ins tu onal needs

· Data analy cs to reduce ins tu onal costs and barriers to student success

· Strategies for marke ng to under‐enrolled and nontradi onal student popula ons

· Strategies for marke ng new innova ons to students and parents

Change in the Peach State: Demographic Trends and Analysis—Lunch Served

Sunday, 12:15 PM—1:45PM

Presenter: Ma Hauer, Carl Vinson Ins tute of Government. University of Georgia

At the dawn of the 21st century, it was apparent that Georgia was changing rapidly, with drama c implica‐ons for the state. Only 40 years earlier, in 1960, Georgia had become a predominately urban state. By Cen‐

sus 2010, Georgia had catapulted to the eighth‐largest state, home to the ninth‐most populous city in Ameri‐ca, with one of the most rapidly diversifying popula ons in the na on. The 1990s and early 2000s saw espe‐cially rapid popula on growth as Georgia nearly doubled in popula on between 1990 and 2010. However, the Great Recession changed this growth paradigm: Parts of Georgia and some Georgians are not experienc‐ing this rapid growth as 82 coun es in Georgia – half of the state’s coun es – have lost popula on since 2010 and nearly 10% of Georgia coun es are among the 100 poorest in the United States. What will Georgia’s fu‐ture look like? Will its popula on con nue to grow, and where will this growth be concentrated? What are the opportuni es and challenges Georgia’s future popula on poses as we hurdle toward the mid‐century?
