RE: REQUEST FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND ENDORSEMENT
We write from the program desk of Nevaldin Enterprises (Pty) Ltd and from its
department of learning support and martial arts services. Tlokweng Oikado
Martial Arts Academy Projects and Initiatives.
By this letter we write requesting your esteemed support and endorsement of the
Karate and Motivation for Children and Young Teens. In particular our
specific request is to help us source sponsorship for the program to be rolled out
to children and young teens in Tlokweng. The program can and will be duplicated
and rolled out to other communities wherein we have Oikado Martial Arts School
licensed instructors. Our concerns are potential beneficiaries in deep rural
settlements. Resources permitting we would visit and bring the program to their
door steps.
Kindly find attached the sponsorship proposal package for the Karate and
Motivation Program for Children and Youth. Also attached is the Situational
Analysis to give the generic and guide to program perspectives and undertaking.
We look forward to hearing from you and look forward to working with your
institution.
Yours sincerely,

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Thank you for taking time to read and discuss the Schools Karate Motivation
Training Program for Children and Young Teens.
Mr. Moses topsoil Kgosibodiba, a world class karate trainer and instructor is
now offering Karate Motivation Training Program to children in Botswana
and SADC member countries and to the rest of collaborating countries
wishing to duplicate the program.
The program beneficiaries are children and teens at primary (5-12yrs),
junior (13-15yrs), and senior (16-21 yrs) in-school and out-of-school.
The program teaches martial arts/karate, motivation and discipline to
students and have resulted in students who are fit and much disciplined.
As every teacher knows, the benefits of a disciplined student are enormous as
they study well at school and at home. Do and submit their homework on
time and prepare for tests and examination in time.
The program also teaches self-confidence and will highlight the dangers of
smoking, drug abuse and alcohol.
We believe that fit and disciplined students will benefit the students
themselves, the school system, teachers and parents and the community and
society in which they reside.
This program takes students away from laziness, smoking, drinking and gets
them involved and motivated to become better students. No other program
offers such benefits!
The program will be taught and presented by Mr. Moses Kgosibodiba, who
has over 35 years experience as a world class instructor.
By this submission we wish to roll out the program to primary, junior and
senior secondary schools and to communities. Funds permitting it will be our
delight for every school to be involved with us through this program. World
Cup training camps are ongoing but restricted by lack of funding.
. . .in our quest for peace and in serving each other we all become free. . .

Situational Analysis
Our community, Tlokweng, is a tribal territory servicing the capital city
Gaborone. The 2011 population census preliminary results indicate that
Gaborone population has crossed the 400 000 mark with the peri-urban
Tlokweng standing at 36 060. The bulk of the South East people are residents
of Tlokweng. Of this population our target are the Youth-both in school and
out of school and the semi-literate members of the community. The majority
of Youth are at risk of failure in school and/or in life.
Some of the identified needs risk factors for youth and the community are;
(a). 60% of our students have no one at home between the hours of 2pm and
7pm. More than average police service activity exists in our area
(b). 50-65% of form 3s and 5s students score below the 50th percentile across
all
subjects
(c). Limited affordable distance learning, technology based vocational
education programs, alcohol and drug avoidance programs, family mental
health, or parenting programs in school and the community.
In order to reduce our Youth (both in school and out of school) risk factors,
and promote Youth achievement and social success, we are seeking funds to
implement our locally developed “Karate and Motivation for Children and
Young Teens” and the "Playing for Success" Programs. If funded/sponsored,
this will allow us to offer students, out-of-school Youth and community
members an extended school day/year "menu" of expanded learning
opportunities in a safe, drug free environment which will support and
encourage their efforts to improve their academic achievement and enhance
their physical mental and social wellbeing. The program will provide
"extended day/year" program/service daily, after school, on Saturdays and
Sundays, and during the school and long public holidays.
Some anticipated outcomes of Karate and Motivation program are:-
(a). reduced number of unsupervised children in the afternoon, on weekends
and during holidays.
. . .in our quest for peace and in serving each other we all become free. . .

(b). reduced actual and for potential number of students engaging in drug
abuse activities and in juvenile crime, or being victims of crime.
(c). reduced adult crime rate in our community.
(d). raised academic skill levels and performance by students and
consequently number of Youth and community members.
(e). Increased number of parent and community members receiving
physical/mental health, distance learning and parenting education
programs/services.
The positive impact on children of re-establishing the ties among home,
school and community have been widely recognized. It will serve as a
cornerstone of education for all by the year 2016. Collaboration between
home and school is essential both to family functioning and to school success.
Community centers of Excellence can be a critical resource to meet the
growing need for children to have safe and productive activities during the
hours outside of the school day.
While the number of after-school child care programs has grown over the
last 10 years.
There are still not enough organized, extended learning opportunities.
Our realities in many settings, Organized Before and After School Programs
are simply not available to children in public schools. The existing after
school programs are designed for extra-curricula sporting and club activities.
The reality with these programs is that many children do not participate at
all. Furthermore, although the need for programs serving older children is
also substantial, only a tiny percentage of in- school and out-of-school care
programs serve older children and youth.
Our children's need for opportunities for learning and environment in a safe
and drug- free environment continues to grow, and working parents want
more access to extended learning opportunities. A survey of parents found
that over 60 percent think that many parents leave their children alone too
much after school. School heads have long seen a need for extended learning
. . .in our quest for peace and in serving each other we all become free. . .

programs; we all agree that there is a need for before-and after -school
programs.
Today, more than ever before in our nation's history, education is the fault
line between those who will prosper in the new economy and those who will
not. A free market economy characterized by citizen empowerment and
privatization of public institutions. Most of today's good jobs require more
skills and training than a senior school certificate affords. Preparation for
college begins the day a child first steps foot in the school house- but not
every child has access to all of the other resources that they need.
Before and after school and holiday programs help children stay on the right
track from the beginning, by providing tutorship, mentors to guide older
children through the math and science courses, as well as the opportunities in
the arts, sports, and recreation and help from caring adults to guide children
to grow and develop into strong individuals.
Request for Funding/Sponsorship

Our target audience and beneficiaries are primarily public primary, junior

Youth. In executing our plan of action, we intend to conduct the program in

The other greatest needs area is that of Secretariat Office + Honbou dojo.
We need an office and a training hall space. The Honbou dojo is the main
training hall of the Tlokweng Martial Arts Academy and that of Oikado
Martial Arts School where administration and technical standards are
maintained. Its major responsibility and that of examination and licensing of
Black belt Instructors.
To that end you can sponsor The Secretariat Office + Honbou Dojo by
allowing us access to use of one of your training halls + an office for a period
of 3-5 years. The hall is required on weekdays from 3pm-430pm & 430pm-
630pm.
As part of ongoing development we have an annual 14-Day internship and to
attend the International Karate Organization Kyokushin Karate,Durban
and with Ashihara Karate International, Cape Town as other standing
collaborations regionally, continentally and internationally. We had attended
the Inaugural IKO All Africa Tournament and training March 10-24, 2014
in Durban.
Your urgent and express financial assistance will go a long way in realizing
our dream.
It will be our delight to associate with your institution by way of this
sponsorship.
Kindly feel free to invite us for a discussion.
Yours sincerely,

About the Author
Kyoshi Moses Kgosibodiba began martial arts training in 1979 whilst at high
school. His initial eight years were spent without an instructor. Not many would
have had the courage to continue training. He had trained under various
instructors and dojos.
In 1986 he came under the instructorship of Hanshi Dr. Patrick Solly
Makgabenyana whilst at the University of Botswana up to present. Together with
Grandmaster we saw him introduce the Secondary Schools Karate Championships
from 1989 – 2000.I note with awe that he has beyond odds single handedly ran
the impossible task of organizing and running the affairs of the Secondary
Schools Karate Championships. His current passion, albeit an obsession, is
improving structures and processes within Oikado and martial arts in general.
It is through such commitment into the development of the martial arts at grass
roots level that I have the privilege to present this work and program from him.
This compilation emanates from his various international, continental and
nationwide training and coaching clinics. The Karate and Motivation Program
is a component of The Grassroots Development Program.
This presentation also forms part requirements for admittance into higher levels of
Black Belts and for admittance into the chartered membership and instructorship
and into the Institute of Science of Strategy [ISS] and with the National College
of Martial Arts [NCMA] and with the International Society of Martial Artists
[ISMA].
We wish him the best in his continued study, learning, research and practice into
the fields of martial arts.

I the undersigned,
Dr Patrick Solly Makgabenyana
1. I do hereby vouch and say that I have known Kyoshi Moses
Kgosibodiba from 1986 (28 years now), and I had the grand opportunity to teach and train him in the martial arts when he was at the University
of Botswana.
2. I verily say further that during our interaction I discovered that he is
armed with brilliant acumen and scholarship, combined with exceptional
distinction and mastery of the physical techniques and skills. In the same compendium he is gifted with good interpersonal relationships,
leadership ability and organizational skills.
3. In the context of martial arts teaching and training, Kyoshi Kgosibodiba
has trained many, many novices who some made it to the status of black
belt of different categories. Pursuant to same he has been organizing and
managing the Botswana Secondary Schools Karate Championships for ten (10) years from 1990-2000, and his contribution enhanced the
martial arts education and recreation in the Primary Schools, Secondary
Schools and Tertiary Institutions.
4. On the international arena, he is actively involved with South Africa
Zimbabwe, Congo and Lesotho martial artists. He is an enigma. He also visited Libya on matters of martial arts in 2009. On the academia, he
holds a BED Degree, Diploma in Career Guidance and Post Graduate in
Counselling Education thence an intellectually resourceful individual.
5. Wherefore and in the aforegoing, I have no iota of doubt or hesitation to
recommend same to anyone or organization for whatever cause, he has
the tremendous potential of and/or to acquit himself accordingly. 6. Thank you
Dr Patrick S. Makgabenyana
