President’s MessageWelcome to the 2016 Canungra Show!
It’s the 78th year that Canungra and district has staged the annual Show and, as always, we located where it all began, the lovely Canungra Showgrounds, even more beautiful this year with the recent landscaping plantings put in by the Grounds Trust.
The Show this year is growing fast. As well as our featured woodchop competition, trade displays, wonderful food, ongoing entertainment, music and fireworks, big changes are afoot.
Our horse competitions are bigger than ever and being staged in dedicated new show jumping and arena spaces. Ute and billy cart events are another feature in this year’s show as are team fun events in the main area when competitions finish. Our popular sideshow area has been relocated right next to the car park.
In redesigning the show’s layout and expanding its offerings, we are also trialling the use of Moriarty Park for free activities, camel rides, show- related displays and good food from community based vendors so the show. We hope you like it.
Competition is the heart of a show and the Canungra Show is the success the people of our district make it. This year we hope you and your family will be in the show, displaying that special piece of art work, that wonderful cake, or garment, or plant or photo, putting your best beef animal through its paces, showing that special pony or miniature goat or that fancy ute to an admiring public.
So please join us this year. Exhibit with us, become a supporting member, or join the organising committee itself and make new friends as we develop the show each year.
As always, my thanks go to the community- minded people who make the show possible: The Society members, who give so much of their time to the planning and implementation of our events. The dedicated stewards and judges who come back every year to manage their respective classes, the volunteers who manage the setup, gate sales, parking and final cleaning and our wonderful sponsors, who support CAHIS every year and, through the success of the Show, support the wider Canungra and district community.
Dr Airlie Worrall CAHIS Inc President 2016 Canungra Agricultural, Horticultural and Industrial Society Inc.
