Rion is working to create a safe and comfortable environment for the 21st centuryRion was founded in 1944 to develop and commercialize products based on research at Kobayashi Institute of Physical Research, a foundation dedicated to the study of physics and acoustics.Since our founding, We have concentrated on technology according to our management principle, “Acoustics is the study of how to create a safe and comfortable environment.”Rion has three business divisions: “the Medical Instrument Division”, “the Environmental Instrument Division”, and “the Particle Counter Division”.The Medical Instrument Division develops, manufactures, and sells hearing instruments, assistive devices, and medical equipment, mainly used in the field of otolaryngology (ear, nose and throat).“The Environmental Instrument Division” develops, manufactures, and sells sound and vibration measuring instruments, including sound level meters, vibration meters and seismometers.“The Particle Counter Division” develops, manufactures, and sells particle counters to measure particles in the air and liquids.A wide range of our products, mainly based on acoustics, are used in a multitude of fields for use by individuals, governments, universities/colleges, hospitals/clinics, service industries, various manufacturing industries, etc. Not only domestic but also international, our products are exported to over 60 countries, and get a great evaluation wherever they are used.We plan to continue to supply products to meet the needs of our customers, maintain our position as a leading company in the industry, and further develop products for use worldwide.We aim to promote people’s health and welfare, and to create a safe and comfortable environment based on our corporate philosophy of “Helping people, society, and the world through all our actions.”

　当社は、物理学・音響学の研究を目的とする一般財団法人小林理学研究所の研究成果を製品化するために1944年に設立されました。それ以来、一貫して「音響学は人生の安全と慰安に奉仕する学問である」を経営哲学とし技術立社を貫いてまいりました。　その中に脈 と々流れている経営思想は、「社会に奉仕し、世の中の人々が生活していく上で、安心と福祉のために役立つことができれば」と念じつつ製品開発を行ってきたことであります。　事業部門は、「医療機器事業部」、「環境機器事業部」及び「微粒子計測器事業部」で構成されております。　｢医療機器事業部」は、“補聴器”や難聴者のための関連機器と、主に耳鼻咽喉科領域で使われる“医用検査機器”を扱います。　｢環境機器事業部」は、音や振動に関する測定器や地震計などの“音響・振動計測器”を扱います。　｢微粒子計測器事業部」は、気体や液体の中に浮遊する微粒子を測定する“微粒子計測器”を扱います。　音響を中心にした多岐にわたる当社の製品は、個人から官公庁、学校、病院、サービス業、農林水産業、あらゆる製造業など広い分野で使用され、国内はもとより世界60数ヵ国へ輸出され高い評価をいただいております。　当社は顧客ニーズに合った製品を供給し、業界のトップメーカーとしてその地位を維持していくとともに、全世界に目を向け、豊かな21世紀を展望しつつ、「リオンはすべての行動を通して人へ 社会へ 世界へ貢献する」との企業理念のもとに健康福祉の増進と安全な生活、快適な環境創りを目指してまいります。

環境マネジメントへの取り組み　リオンは、国際規格ISO14001を1999年より認証され、環境活動を推進しております。　リオンが果たすべき役割と責任を認識することで、環境にやさしい循環型社会の構築に貢献してまいります。

Environmental Management ActivityWe are certified for an Environmental Management System ISO14001 since 1999, and have been promoting our environmental activity.We are working to create an eco-friendly and recycling-based society that we can support through our activity.

品質マネジメントへの取り組み　リオンは、国際規格ISO9001を1993年より、医療機器の国際規格ISO13485を2003年より認証されております。　また、補聴器では欧州医療機器指令(93/42/EEC)への対応として2005年よりEC認証されております。

技術の高さで、安らぎと信頼を築く 　聞こえにお悩みの方々に、より多くの人との言葉によるコミュニケーションを実現するため、1948年にリオンの補聴器が誕生しました。　以来、リオンの補聴器“リオネット”は、常に最新技術を取り入れ、聞こえの機能だけでなく快適な使い心地、ファッショナブルで軽く・小さく・目立たない工夫など利用者のニーズをとらえる努力をしてまいりました。　このほか聞こえの不自由な方々のバリアを取り除き、暮らしに役立つ機器、床に張ったループから音を聞き取るシステムなども手がけています。　これからも、人と人とのコミュニケーションを広げ、生活の質の向上、生きがいのある生活のお手伝いをしてまいります。

確かな検査で健康な生活を支える 　病気の治療から予防医学へ、さらに近年では健康医学へと対象を広げている現代の医療。これにともない、医療現場での検査の役割はますます高まり、あわせて検査機器の多様化が進んでおります。　リオンは、検査機器に求められる要素を「信頼性・簡易性・利便性」と考え、これを基本として、医療現場のニーズに応えることのできる医用検査機器の開発に取り組んでおります。　当社の医用検査機器は、「音と聴覚」を出発点とし、オージオメータなどの聴力検査機器や、平衡機能検査装置など耳鼻咽喉科領域を中心に展開しております。

Supporting healthy lives through accurate testingMedical technology has made remarkable progress, and the medical fi eld has expanded from treatment to preventive medicine and health. With these movements, testing in the medical fi eld has become more important, and medical equipment has had to become more varied.We have been developing medical equipment to meet users’ needs through the basic concept of “reliability, ease of use, and convenience.”Since we began our research on “sound and hearing,” we have manufactured medical equipment primarily for use in the field of otolaryngology, such as audiometers, hearing testing equipment, etc.

音を極めて快適さと品質に貢献　音と振動は、われわれの生活環境の中で身近な所に存在しています。これらをとらえる計測用マイクロホンや振動ピックアップにはじまる音響･振動計測器は多くの分野で用いられています。　騒音計は、騒音の対策に、またホールなどでの良好な音響空間の創造、住宅の遮音性能の向上、より良い製品の開発および品質管理などを目的とするあらゆる計測に用いられています。　また、振動計関連では、製品の開発や製造工程での状態の監視、大型回転機械設備などの設備診断、車両・輸送機関連の安全および乗り心地、地震監視を行なう地震計測システムなど、良好な環境、快適な生活、あるいは生産性の向上を求めて各方面に広く利用されています。　さらに、騒音・振動測定の技術を用いて、物体の容積・体積の測定や、トラックのタイヤを留めているインナーナットの緩みの検査など、リオンは新しい分野への進出を行っております。

Contributing to comfort and quality of lifeSounds and vibrations are all around us in our lives.Sound and vibration measuring instruments with sensors (microphones or accelerometers) are used in various industrial fi elds.Sound level meters are used for various measur ing purposes , such as for noise control, to create good acoustic spaces like concert halls, improve the performance of sound insulation in homes, develop better products, and control quality.Vibrat ion meter s a re used in va r ious industrial fi elds to improve the environment by ma k i ng i t more com fo r t ab le a nd increasing productivity, such as for product development, monitoring the manufacturing process , check ing equipment for la rge rotating machinery, controlling safety and comfort when riding in vehicles, and systems to measure seismic activities.Rion has also advanced into new fields utilizing sound and vibration measuring technologies, such as measuring the volume of objects and doing inspections to detect whether the interior nuts that secure truck wheels have loosened.

微粒子を捉え、品質、安全、健康を守る　空気中や液体中に浮遊する微粒子は、人間の健康や製品の品質にさまざまな影響を及ぼします。　小型、高集積化が進む半導体産業や精密工業等においては、工場の空気中や、そこで使われる純水・薬品等の液体中に含まれる微粒子が製品の歩留まりに影響を及ぼします。また、製薬・食品産業、病院の手術室などでも病原菌やバクテリアを含まない高い清浄度が要求されます。　さらに、製薬企業においても注射剤に関しては、人体に直接注入するため、日本薬局方・米国薬局方・欧州薬局方で、注射剤中に浮遊する粒子径・粒子個数を厳格に管理することが求められています。　こうした気体や液体の清浄度の維持管理に各種パーティクルカウンタが用いられます。

Protecting quality, safety, and health from the infl uence of particles.Particles in the air and in liquids can affect human health and product quality in many ways.In the semiconductor and precision machinery industries, it is necessary to prevent the harmful influence of particles on product performance and quality.In the pharmaceutical and food industries, and in hospital operating rooms, a clean environment is required to prevent the inf luence of bacter ia, which travels on particles.For example, injected liquids must be strictly regulated, and the criteria for the number and diameter of pa r t ic les must be st r ic t ly controlled according to pharmaceutical regulations. Rion makes particle counters des igned to ma inta in and cont rol the cleanliness of both air and liquids in these environments.

　経営をサポートするため、「経営企画本部」を設置しております。リオングループ全体の戦略立案を行うほか、各種管理業務を担当しております。

“The Corporate Planning Division” is set to support entire management of our company. The Corporate Planning Division conducts various administrative tasks as well as planning of strategy for Rion Group.

Technical Development Center技術開発センター

　リオンにおける未来の技術開発を担う「技術開発センター」を設置しております。事業部門の新製品に関する技術研究から、新しい技術の基礎研究や製品化への技術開発に取り組んでおります。

“The Technical Development Center” is set to concentrate our technologies in various fi elds for successful research and development. The Technology Development Center makes every effort to conduct technical study for new products in our business divisions, basic researches for new technologies, and technological development for commercial products.

Innovation Promotion Divisionイノベーション推進室

　事業部門の改革を推進する組織として、「イノベーション推進室」を設置しております。製品の有用性や新規事業の創出など、事業部門とは異なる視点で事業の創造に取り組んでおります。
