Get Your Groove onDancing is a great workout for the

mind and body. A 150-pound adult canburn about 150 calories doing 30minutes of moderate social dancing. Andby concentrating on your dance steps, you’ll boost brain power by improvingmemory skills. Dancing buildsconfidence, reduces stress and tensionand provides the social opportunity tomeet others.

At thestudy’s end, all participantsexperienced significant healthbenefits, including lower levels ofdepression and disabilitylimitations, and marked increasesin physical function.

There are many types of danceto explore, from creative ballet tofast-paced Scottish CountryDancing, which is a great aerobicworkout. There’s rumba, foxtrot, tango, aerobic dance, squaredancing, swing, line dancing, folk(or ethnic) dancing, salsa, flamenco, jazz, hip hop, tap, modern, clogging, and even bellydancing, to name just a few.Ballroom dance is anotherrigorous activity that uses thelarger muscle groups. It’s even arecognized Olympic sport, andmay possibly become a medalsport in the Olympic Games.

Painting AmericaFrom a young age, Norman

Rockwell knew he wanted to be anartist. He enrolled in the New YorkSchool of Art at age 14, and two yearslater he was already a successfulpainter. In addition to his position asart director for the Boy Scouts ofAmerica’s publication Boys’ Life, healso worked freelance for a variety ofother teen magazines.

When Rockwell was 22, he painteda cover for the Saturday Evening Post.It was the first of 322 covers for themagazine, including some of his moreiconic paintings. “Freedom of Speech,”“Freedom to Worship,” “Freedomfrom Want” and “Freedom fromFear”—inspired by President FranklinRoosevelt’s 1943 address toCongress—became hugely popularand toured the U.S., raising more than$130 million for the war effort.

Rockwell was awarded the nation’shighest civilian honor, the PresidentialMedal of Freedom, in 1977. He diedNov. 8, 1978, in Stockbridge, Mass.

The Village Voicesled with an opening song and resident Rob Wolaver, a Vietnam Vet, introducedthose residents who have participated in an Honor Flight. Each participant had theopportunity to say something about what the flag meant to him, how he felt abouthis experience on the Honor Flight, or any patriotic thoughts or feelings hemay have.

Those Westminster Village residents who have participated on an Honor Flightare Ted Reser, Chuck Sherrill, Bob Dale, Jim Fisher, Lou Carr, Eldon Hood, BobSchlatter, Don Parman and Jerry Goetsch.
