дісно-сумним солдатам. Найбільше вбиває байдужість і найбільше піднімає на дусі, щед-рість людських сердець, які перебуваючи за тисячі кілометрів від України, залишаються її вірними синами і доньками. Дуже прошу, моліться за нас, моліться за цей довгоочікуваний мир і перемогу, мо-літься, щоб ці наслідки війни, наші хлопці могли з Богом перенести! Дякую о. Тарасу і о. Миколаю, дякую кожному з Вас, бо Ваша підтримка для нас є дуже важлива і надзвичайно потрібна!

sad soldiers who are so happy because of your support. Indifference is very destructive and on the other hand the generosity of kind people who live thousands of kilometers from Ukraine and yet remain Ukraine's faithful sons and daughters is most uplifting. I beg you to pray for us. Pray for the long awaited peace and for victory and please pray that God help our boys to deal with the effects of war! I thank Fr. Taras, Fr, Mykola and I thank each and every one you for your support for it is very important and very much needed.

ПЕРШ, НІЖ Перш, ніж випустити шпильку з вуст, подумаймо про тих, хто не може говорити. Перш, ніж поскаржитися на смак своєї страви, подумаймо про тих, кому нічого їсти. Перш, ніж поскаржитися на свого чоловіка або дружину, подумаймо про тих, хто на самоті молить Бога про супутника життя. Перш, ніж поскаржитися на життя, подумаймо про тих, хто занадто рано пішов з життя. Перш, ніж скаржитися на своїх дітей, подумаймо про тих, хто не може їх мати, незважаючи на величезне бажання. Перш, ніж поскаржитися на безлад і бруд у домі, подумаймо про тих, хто живе на ву-лиці. Перш, ніж побиватися з приводу відстані, яку належить проїхати, подумаймо про тих, хто проходить її пішки. Перш, ніж підняти палець і засудити іншо-го, подумаймо про те, що кожен з нас грішний. Перш, ніж скаржитися на свою роботу, подумаймо про безробітних, інвалідів і всіх тих, хто мріяв би про наше місце. Коли ж похмурі думки переслідують нас, посміхнімося і подумаймо: «Я все ще живий і потрібний».

Наше життя – це подарунок!!! Тому навчімося сприймати його, як належ-не. Навчімося дякувати Богу за все, що ми маємо в цьому житті.

BEFORE Before we are tempted to complain, let us think of those who cannot speak. Before we complain about the taste of our food, let us think of those who have nothing to eat. Before we complain about our husband or wife let us think about those who live alone and pray to God to send them a partner in life. Before we complain about our life, let us think of those who had to leave this world too early. Before we complain about our children let us think about those who cannot have children no matter how much they want them. Before we complain about the dirt and mess in our home let us think about those who live in the streets. Before we complain about the distances that we have to travel let us think about those who have to walk to their destination. Before we set out to judge someone let us stop to remember that each of us is a sinner. Before we complain about our job let us stop to remember those who are jobless or inva-lids and everyone else who can only dream about being in our place. When sad thoughts persecute us let us smile and think: “I am alive and I am needed!”

Our life is a gift!!! So let us learn to accept it as we should. Let us learn to thank God for everything that we have in life.

ЛИСТ ПОДЯКИ Слава Ісусу Христу! Дорогі отці та парафіяни храму св. Іва-на Хрестителя! Війна в Україні. Ще кілька років тому в це ніхто би не повірив. Пригадую, як о. Ми-кола у 2008 році запитав мене: «Ти уявляєш, що така війна як зараз в Грузії може бути в Україні?» - «Ні- звичайно не уявляю. І чому вона в нас має бути, ми ж нікому нічого не зробили…все в нас буде добре…» Пройшло не багато років і це слово «війна» на устах українців в Україні і за кордоном. Війна – страшне слово, яке викликає найстрашнішу асоціацію. Коли я їхала перший раз як волонтер в ті сторони, і уявити не могла що це не остання моя поїздка, я думала, що це скоро все закінчиться, - цей біль, сльози, діти у бо-мбосховищах і голодні очі старців… Але вже рік, як кожного місяця ми пакуємо машину і їдемо туди, де кров’ю стікає моя Україна – до військових, до дітей сиріт, де ти просто ста-єш на лінії вогню маленьким промінчиком світла, другом, Церквою… Кожна поїдка є важкою і різною. Ти зустрічаєшся з різними людьми, ти бачиш очі солдат і коли прощає-шся тобі душа розривається від болю, що ти ідеш у свій дім, у Львів, де все спокійно і ні-хто про війну не говорить, бо всі втомилися, а він, оцей 23-річний, хлопчина залишається там, за 400 метрів від смерті. Коли отримуєш дзвінок від командира боїшся почути в труб-ку що цей чи цей 200-тий (загиблий). Страш-но, важко, боляче... Трапляються і смішні історії і історії де ти розумієш, що там тебе врятував тільки Бог і чиїсь молитви. Прига-дую як ми заблукали і не могли потрапити на позиції до хлопців, заїхали «під ніс» ворогам з українським прапором на машині, стали серед поля і стоїмо… я не знаю, це було чудо Боже, що по нам не відкрили вогонь, бо коли побачили нас хлопці, які виїхали по нас, де ми стоїмо, у них був такий страх, що вони потім не могли говорити – так це було чудо Боже, бо ж з нами Бог. Але серед того всього ти також розумі-єш, що ти ідеш туди, тому що є небайдужі люди, такі як Ви, дорогі парафіяни церкви Різдва Івана Хрестителя, які просто допома-гають тобі, допомагати ось тим простим, ра-

A THANK YOU LETTER Slava Isusu Khrystu!

Dear fathers and parishioners of St. John Church, There is a war in Ukraine. Just a mere few years ago few would have believed this possible. I remember when in 2008 Fr. Mykola asked me: “Can you imagine a war like the one in Georgia happening in Ukraine?” I answered: “No, of course I can’t imagine this. And why should something like this happen? We haven’t done anything to anyone… everything will be alright.” A few years went by and today the word “war” is on the minds of all Ukrainians in Ukraine and abroad. War - is a horrible word which evokes horrible associations. When I went to the war zone as a volun-teer I expected this to be my last trip for I was sure that this would all end soon - the pain, the tears, children in bomb-shelters and the hungry eyes of the elderly… Yet every month we pack a car and go to the place where my Ukraine is los-ing so much blood - we visit soldiers and or-phans, we stand in the line of fire with a tiny ray of light; we come as friends and we come as rep-resentatives of the Church… Every trip is difficult and each trip is different. You meet various dif-ferent people, you see the eyes of the soldiers and when you say good by you do so with a bro-ken heart, knowing that you are going to your home in Lviv, where it is peaceful and calm and no one talks about the war because they are tired of it - while the 23 year old boy remains 400 meters from death. When you receive a call from the commander you are afraid you will hear that this or that one died. It is frightening, diffi-cult and painful… Occasionally there are also fun-ny stories or stories in which you understand that you were saved by someone's prayers and by God alone. I remember when once we got lost and could not find our way to the place where the soldiers were hiding and stopped directly un-der the nose of the enemies with a Ukrainian flag on our car. We stopped in the middle of the field and just stood there… it was a miracle that the enemy didn’t start firing at us, for when the sol-diers that we came to visit saw where we were they were paralyzed with fear and lost their speech - yes it was a miracle that we came out of there alive. God is with us. Amidst all of this we understand that we go there because there are caring people like you, the parishioners of St. John’s Church, who simply help us to help the

register as soon as possible.
