3. Component A1 (US $ 322 million): This subcomponent will include upgrading281 km state highways through FIDIC based input contracts. It would alsoinclude the associated pre-­construction activities including resettlement andutility relocation, environmental management and supervision and qualitycontrol services.

Road Safety: The project preparation and detailed designs of theroads and structures including road safety features have beencarried out through DPR consultants who in their team consisted of aroad safety specialist. Safety vulnerabilities were identified andspecific road safety engineering counter measures including speedcalming measures to reduce accidents especially in populated areaswere adequately integrated in the engineering designs to reduce therisks.
