The Railway?

Interoperability is

The capacity to a collaboration between different

systems, technologies or organisation.

All we need is to respect commune standards.

Globally only ONE normed part in the railway:

Nature and morbid borders

Corridor A "Rotterdam and Genoa" (1300 km, 4900 km rail

network) is defined one of the six central traffic axes in UE

Performance: 28.5 billion tkm (2010) all transport modes.

Target 2020: 56 Mrd. tkm

The Management needs a stronger Market Presence!

1500 int. trains/week with at least one across border, 55%

combined traffic trains

Modal split (source: Implementation Plan KOR A)

Total: 232 million t

Inland waterways: 54% (calculated: 125 million t)

rail: 14% (calculated: 32 million t)

road: 32% (calculated: 74 million t)

8 mil t to be shifted

57 MT.

Remark:

• what was tested on the corridor could but must not be transfered to the network

• Hudge propotion of road trailers could be shifted to rail

If you cannot rebuild or built new tracksThis is the solution for more capacity!

From the point of view of the client SBB Cargo International

Automatization and networking will change the railway. The digital world is a great lever

if it will be user induced (not Design first, cost first) pulled.

It will have capacity profit with small intervention (overhaul) if the train standards are

clear. 740m is a necessity

Railway as a mass transportation instrument , strong in distance, MUST run

transnational and seamless. More Internationality is necessary

Construction will challenge the sector over 10 years time.

The Railway will stand in front of an image challenge if there will not be a clear leap in

qualitative or a compensation of the necessary reserves.

Holy Wish :• DON’T SLOWDOWN. • Find easy and PAYABLE solutions which creates an advantage for the market. • Be user minded not designer minded!

THANK YOU
