5th Grade CurriculumThis curriculum map is a guideline for our

school year. Activities and opportunities

arise as the year progresses and we will be

taking advantage of them. Occasionally,

units run longer or are shorter than we

have anticipated, so we remain flexible to

accommodate our students’ needs.

NourishmentWe encourage all students to eat breakfast before

school starts to fuel their bodies. If a child needs to eat breakfast at school, they can bring the breakfast to the classroom which will avoid a marked tardy or absence.

Snacks are welcome into the classroom. A nutritious snack helps to bridge the gap between breakfast and our lunch which is at 12:55.

Water bottles are also welcomed and should be labeled with child’s name in permanent marker. The water bottles can be filled at school and, if reusable, will be sent home on Friday to be washed.

Birthdays Birthday treats are welcome at schoolPlease notify your child’s teacher prior

to sending in treats Individual treats and paper towels

or napkins are required. The students will either eat the treat at lunch or following lunch in the classroom.

Treats must be peanut and tree nut free.

Celebrations & Special Events Our seasonal celebrations and special events

involve all fifth grade classes. Each party has a specific theme and is not based on religious holidays. At times, the students are arranged in middle school groups. This allows the students to see who will be going to the same middle school.

Party coordinators from each fifth grade class are needed to organize each party and collect donations from fifth grade families.

Fall party: Sports Tailgate – October 30thWinter Party: Movie and Concessions - Dec 18thValentine’s Party: February 12th

Fifth Grade CelebrationThis celebration will take place the last day of school. We will have a 5th grade picnic in the park. Parents can then be involved with the clap-out and then stand in the front of the building to receive their graduating student.

We will need a 5th grade celebration committee. Please sign up for this if you are interested.
