Baptisms: Arrangements must be made by parents through the Rectory Office to schedule baptisms and arrange for Pre-Baptism classes. All parents expecting to baptize their first child are to attend Pre-Baptism classes.
Weddings: Arrangements should be made with a priest through the Rectory Office at least six months prior to the desired date. All couples must attend Pre-Cana classes which are normally scheduled in March.

В неділю 2-го жовтня парафія Покрови Пресвятої

святкуватиме храмовий празник. В 10-ій годині ранку -
Літургія, а після - пікнік до 4-ої години пополудні. Всі є

МОЛОДІЖНІ РЕКОЛЕКЦІЇ
Молодіжний Комітет Пармської Єпархії запрошує молодь
шкільного віку ( 7 – 12 класи) на щорічні молодіжні
реколекції, які відбудуться в містечку Collier Township,
Пенсильванія 8 і 9 жовтня. Тема цьогорічних реколекцій -
“ ЗМАГАЮ ДАЛІ ”- на основі послання до Филип’ян 3:10
-14. Нічліг в готелі “ Комфорт Інн” (по 4 особи в кімнаті).
Духовні вправи, наповнені вірою, новими друзями,
спілкуванням і так далі. Будуть різноманітні розваги,
ватра, духовні науки і цікаві співрозмовники. Дзвоніть до

Отець Богдан привіз з України 8 комплектів священичих
риз для нашого собору, а також один комплект обрусів
для вівтаря.
Якщо б хтось з наших парафіян мав бажання оплатити
вартість бодай одного комплекту священичих риз, тим
самим зробити офіру для парафії в пам’ять ваших родичів
чи з нагоди інших подій, ми були б дуже вдячні. Нехай

RELIGION & MUSIC CLASSES TODAY
Mrs. Maryna Turiv will continue with guitar lessons for our
children. Today, at 10:00 AM she will have a class in the
Parish Room in the Astrodome.
Today, after the 11AM Divine Liturgy, we will have a religion
class in the Ukrainian language for older children. It will take
place in the Parish Room in the Astrodome. The teacher will
be Mrs. Oksana Kozak who has had 27 years experience
teaching in Ukraine.

YOUTH RETREAT
The Eparchial Youth Committee invites all young people grades
7-12, from our parish and eparchy to attend the Annual
Eparchial Fall Youth Retreat to take place at Trinity Acres,
Ridge and Ewing Roads, Collier Township, PA on October 8 &
9, 2016. The theme for this year’s retreat is PRESS ON based on
Philippians 3:10-14.
Sleeping arrangements, groups of 4 at local Comfort Inn.
Come enjoy this religious retreat filled with faith, friends, fun,
and fellowship. Activities include: low ropes initiatives, gaga
ball, ultimate frisbee, archery, bonfire, make-your-own ice

NEW VESTMENTS FOR CATHEDRAL
When Father Bohdan was in Ukraine, he purchased 8 new sets
of vestments and one set of altar linens. These vestments and the
altar linens are for use in our Cathedral.

memory of a loved one or for another occasion, please contact
Father Bohdan. We will appreciate your donation.
PYROHY SALES
We graciously THANK our dedicated pyrohy workers who
donate their time and efforts each week to our Cathedral
pyrohy project. Pyrohy Sales hours are Thursdays & Fridays
from 8am until 1pm. We invite all parishioners to consider
helping us with this project.
MOLEBEN TO THE THEOTOKOS
Each Wednesday during the month of October,
beginning Wednesday, October 5th, we will have a
Moleben in honor of the Mother of God, the Ever
Virgin Mary, at 7:00 PM. After the Moleben we will
pray the rosary. We invite all parishioners to join us as we
gather in prayer to honor the Holy Theotokos.
SAINT JOSAPHAT EPARCHY ENDOWMENT FUND
FUNDRAISING EVENT - OCTOBER 8, 2016
Please join Bishop Bohdan and our clergy at an Eparchial
Fundraising Event on October 8, 2016 at Pokrova Ukrainian
Catholic Church, 6810 Broadview Road, Parma. Hours: 6pm
to 8pm with a short concert program (a buffet will be
available).
The Eparchy is establishing the Saint Josaphat Eparchy
Endowment Fund for:

Children & youth education
Young adult ministry
Care for the elderly parishioners

CATECHISM OF THE UKRAINIAN CATHOLIC CHURCH
With the blessing of Bishop Bohdan Danylo, we will begin to
read a short article from the Catechism Christ - Our Pascha
after all weekend Divine Liturgies. In his letter in Christ - Our Pascha, His Beatitude Sviatoslav
writes “In the Catechism Christ - Our Pascha we are called to
embody in our daily lives the one inheritance of the faith, as
transmitted in the light of our theological tradition—to deepen,
nurture, and transmit it to future generations.
CATECHESIS CLASSES
We have begun Ukrainian Catechesis classes for First
Corporate Communion and Confession. The classes are being
taught by Mrs. Oksana Kozak. The classes are being held every
two weeks on Fridays at 6:00 PM in the Parish Room in the
Astrodome. The next class will be October 7th. You may call the
rectory office to give your child’s name. MARRIAGE ENCOUNTER GROUP
St. Josaphat Cathedral Parish would like to invite all married
couples to meet once a month on Saturday after the Divine
Liturgy. As we gather together we can discuss experiences and
challenges of married couples in today’s world and get answers
to questions you may have related to the teaching, beliefs and
laws of the Church in regard to marriage and family.

time and date of the first meeting will be announced. ST. MARY’S PATRONAL FEAST DAY CELEBRATION
On Sunday, October 2, 2016, Protection of the Blessed Virgin

WHAT IS THE YEAR OF MERCY?
Seeing the great need for mercy and healing in the world, Pope Francis called for the Year of Mercy. It began
on the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception (December 8th
, 2015) and will conclude on November 20th
,
2016.. This special time has been designated an Extraordinary Jubilee Year, and there have only been 3 of these
years in the history of the church. What does this mean? It is a call to action for you and me to focus on for-
giveness and healing in an intentional way.
One of the central components of the Jubilee of Mercy is that the Holy Doors will be opened and, "the Holy Door will become
a Door of Mercy through which anyone who enters will experience the love of God who consoles, pardons, and instils hope".
Traditionally, there are holy doors only in Rome, but Pope Francis has declared that every bishop in the world may designate
a holy door(s) to be opened in their diocese for this year, so that even those who can't come to Rome can participate in the
church's mercy by walking through the doors. St. Josaphat Cathedral was designated as a church with holy doors of Mercy.
Bishop Bohdan Danylo symbolically opened the holy doors of St. Josaphat Cathedral on December 15 th, 2015.
Our Holy Father expressed the hope that the whole Church will find “the joy needed to rediscover and make fruitful the
Mercy of God, with which all of us are called to give consolation to every man and woman of our time”. Pope Francis calls
us to enter a journey that begins with a spiritual conversion. He calls all of us to live this year in the light of the Lord’s
words: “Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful”. (Luke 6:36)

need arrangements by purchasing plots or crypts before the end of

information about the Cemetery, the Open House and a Crypt
