Environmental Labels Carbon“Less” Certificates Sectoral Awards
Purpose: • To recognize organizations which have attained a prescribed no. ofSPECIFIC environmental goals
• To recognize buildings and organizations which have reduced a VERIFIED ABSOLUTE AMOUNT of overall carbon emissions
• To recognize organizations which have demonstrated ALL-ROUND and OUTSTANDING environmental performance
Mechanism: • Continuous SELF-IMPROVEMENT
• Determination and Verification of ACHIEVEMENT
• Annual COMPETITION
Scope: • 4 Labels • 1 Certificate • 9 Sectors
Awardees: • No prescribed limit on the no. of Labels to be granted(Class of Excellence, Class of Good)
• No prescribed limit on the no. of Certificates to be granted(Carbon“Less” N% Certificate)
• 1 Gold, 1 Silver, 1 Bronze, 1 SME Award & up to 10 Merits (or a combination as deemed appropriate by the Adjudicating Panels)

Initial ReviewInitial ReviewLabel Adviser will perform initial review with the participants to identify possible goals.
The Organizers will grant Labels to successful participants.
The Organizers will review and endorse the assessment report prepared by the Label Advisor.
Label Adviser will carry out detailed assessment and generate report with the participants. Label Adviser and Organizers will determine if the goals are achieved.
Participants will define goals. Label Adviser will assist if necessary.

Minimum Requirements
Achieved 3 new goals per year covering at least 2 measuring categories.
Accumulation of 9 goals or more covering at least 2 measuring categories.
Achieved 1 new goal* in each subsequent year from any of the measuring categories.
Label Validity: 1 year from the date of label accreditation.
* The new goal can be:(i) a goal within the Wastewi$e member’s business operation; or(ii) a goal on motivating and supporting one of its business partners (e.g. suppliers) to join
and successfully obtain at least the “Class of Good” Wastewi$e Label.

Achieved at least 3 energy saving measures in any 2 energy consuming facilities specified in Measures Category A and/or B.
Accumulation of 9 or more energy saving measures in any 3 energy consuming facilities in Measures Category A and/or B; andAchieved at least 1 new energy saving measure* in any Measures Category in each subsequent year.
Label Validity: 1 year from the date of label accreditation.
* The new energy saving measure can be:(i) a goal within the Energywi$e member’s business operation; or(ii) a goal on motivating and supporting one of its business partners (e.g. suppliers) to join
and successfully obtain at least the “Class of Good” Energywi$e Label.

Obtained Good Class Certificateunder the IAQ Certification Scheme of the Government; and
Demonstrated committed improvement programmes to address parameters not meeting the Excellent Class requirements of the IAQ Certification Scheme.
Obtained Excellent Class Certificate under the IAQ Certification Scheme of the Government; and
Demonstrated achievement(s) in education or promotion of IAQ awareness amongst stakeholders or general public.
Label Validity: 1 year from the date of label accreditation.
* For participants obtaining the “Class of Excellence” Label, they could choose to set a goal on motivating and supporting one of its business partners to join and successfully obtain at least the ‘Class of Good” Label in the same category.

The Certificate will be presented in the format: Carbon“Less” N% Certificate, where N denotes that the participant has achieved N% carbon footprint reduction against the baseline.

• Construction Industry- nominated construction projects should have at least one-third of the project work completed (according to the contract period) at the time of assessment
• Financial, Insurance and Accounting Institutions• Hotels and Restaurants• Manufacturing
- Hong Kong based companies with their factories in Pearl River Delta will also be eligible to join the Manufacturing Sector
• Property Management• Public Organizations and Utilities• Retailers
- shall demonstrate that its core business is providing retailing services
• Schools (Primary / Secondary)- restricted to the Champions, First runners-up and Second runners-up of the past Hong Kong Green School Award (HKGSA) organized by the Environmental Campaign Committee, as well as the green schools nominated by the 8th HKGSA

Bonus Points Awarded for Efforts in Carbon“Less” Certificates (maximum 2 bonus points)
– successfully applied for the Carbon“Less” Certificates scheme will earn 1bonus point
– possess a valid Carbon“Less” Certificate will earn an extra 1 bonus point
Bonus Points Awarded for Efforts in Other Schemes (maximum 3 bonus points)– possess a valid certificate from environmental schemes such as ISO
14001, Hong Kong – Guangdong Cleaner Production Partners (Manufacturing) Recognition Scheme, IECQ HSPM QC 080000, Hong Kong Green Mark Certification Scheme or other schemes recognized by the organizers will earn 1 bonus point
