Primus™ 700A / 701A Radar
The ability to fly in all weather conditions
is essential for search and rescue, military
operations, surveillance and VIP transportion
Successfully complete the mission in all weather conditions.
The Primus 700A / 701A are the only radars
that offer sea clutter reduction, enabling
clearer detection of platforms to reduce crew
workload and enhance safety.
The Primus 700A / 701A are the only
helicopter radars offering pulse-pairing-
enabled sea clutter reduction for target
clarity in Instrument Meteorological
Conditions (IMC) and aggressive sea
states. Additionally, when using the ground
mapping mode over water, coastal objects
can be identified as landmarks, aiding in
navigation. If landing on an oil platform is
necessary, the Primus 700A / 701A can
be utilized for safe IFR approaches to
the platform.
Night vision goggles provide the military
pilots with an edge, even on the darkest
nights. But even with NVGs, they can’t see
weather conditions over a distant insertion
point (IP). The Primus radars’ advanced
Doppler processing detects and warns
of hazardous weather at distances over
100nm and turbulence within 40nm of the
helicopter. And on final approach to the IP,
ranges of 0.5, 1.0, and 2.5nm can be
displayed to provide close-in precision.
Honeywell's Primus 700A / 701A Radars are high-powered, integrated helicopter
radar systems combining weather and storm cell detection, SAR and navigation
capabilities in a light-weight package. These capabilities enhance success for
search and rescue, military operations and government VIP transport missions.
Primus 700A / 701A Radars Benefits
• Versatility to support the widest variety
of mission types in nearly all weather
conditions
• Improves success with vessel, platform
and beacon detection capability
• Enhances contingency planning by
providing accurate and current weather
information
• Identifies potential areas of hidden
weather hazards for maximum weather
hazard awareness
• Enables flight crews to safely approach
ships and platforms even in Instrument
Meteorological Conditions
• Exclusive Sea Clutter Reduction
provides quick location of objects and
obstacles in aggressive sea states
Weather Detection
Rainfall intensity and turbulence are displayed
in five brilliant colors contrasted against a
black background. The result is a crisp
display that makes any target readable
under any cockpit lighting condition.
Magenta represents areas of severe rainfall,
red shows heavy rainfall, yellow represents
medium rainfall and green indicates light
rain. White represents areas of turbulence.
To help in analyzing the storm, the Primus
700A / 701A radars inform pilots of the
operating mode, distance to each range
mark and antenna tilt angle.
REACT
Honeywell’s exclusive Rain Echo
Attenuation Compensation Technique
(REACT) safety feature alerts pilots to
areas where storms may be hidden
behind other storms.
Primus 700A / 701A WeatherAvoidance Technology
Turbulence Detection – Advanced
Doppler processing detects and warns
of potential turbulence that may be
present in weather cells out to 40
nautical miles.
Target Alert ensures pilots are aware
of weather hazards that may not be on
display due to range setting.
Sea Search – High-target resolution and
short-range performance with a minimum
range of 450 feet.
Sea Clutter Reduction modes help
eliminate confusing sea clutter returns.
Short Range Scales – Display ranges
of 0.5, 1.0, and 2.5nm provide close-in
precision display support, meets FAA
Offshore Approach (OSAP) requirements.
Ground Mapping modes enhance search
and navigaton by indentifying objects and
obstacles over water and significant terrain
features over land.
Beacon Capabilities – Detects and
displays the following beacons:
• One- and Two-Pulse Beacons
• DO-172 Six-Pulse Beacons
• SMP-100
• SART
