ENGINE DRAINS

DESCRIPTION

The engine system is equipped with rigid and flexiblepipelines to ensure that fluids which may leak do notremain in enclosed spaces but are collected and carriedout to the aircraft outside.

Engine drains can be identified as: – Drains from components/areas which could leak

(engine bay floor, FMM seal, oil cap scupper, starter

seal, output shaft seal, combustor drain valves) – Drains which carry out fluids as normal operation (fuel

return to tank, oil breather) – Drains used only for oil replacement (oil tank, AGB).

ENGINE BAY FLOOR

There are six holes in the engine bay floor which are con-nected with a rigid pipeline leading to a drain locatedunder the main cabin rear end.

FMM SEAL

Leaks are collected using a flexible hose leading to a sin-gle drain located under the main cabin rear end.

OIL CAP SCUPPER AND STARTER SEAL

Leaks are collected using a flexible hose leading to a sin-gle drain located under the main cabin rear end.

FUEL RETURN TO TANK

The fuel coming from fuel nozzles at the engine shut-down is collected using a flexible hose leading to the topside of the fuel tank.

COMBUSTOR DRAIN VALVES

Fuel coming from the combustor liner in case of enginefalse start is collected using a flexible hose leading to asingle drain located under the main cabin rear end.

OIL BREATHER

Air coming from the air/oil separator in the engine AGB iscollected using a rigid pipeline leading outside the enginefireseal.

OIL TANK DRAIN AND AGB DRAIN

Oil tank and AGB drain are located under the engine oiltank and AGB.They are used in case of oil replacement and are notinterfaced with the airframe.
