When using the above engine its wire for wire apart from the temp guage which works off milliamps, To get past this keep the original astra ECU plugged in to run the temp gauge and CTS but the rest of the wiring can be chopped, It will have loads of Fault codes but it will still drive the clocks. luckley i never had to tap the sensor in i just replaced the vectra dash temp sensor on the water coolent brige KĨĨůŝŶĞ -RLQ 'DWH 3RVWV 0HQWLRQHG LQ 4XRWHG K ZĞŐƵůĂƌ 1RY 3RVWV 3RVWV ^ƚĂƚƵƐ 03257 )RUXP 8VHU 1DPH 3DVVZRUG /RJ LQ 5HPHPEHU 0H" 5HJLVWHU )RUJRW 3DVVZRUG"

Plus the rev gauge will read wrong as your clocks will read a signal from a 4pot engine and the v6is 6pot so it is getting 2 more pulses every cycle/rev you can get past this by using a pulseconvertor off dom on http://www.migweb.co.uk/forums/items...adjusters.html or go to his web sitehttp://www.picbits.co.uk/ and look under gadgets, Then you have to change the flybywire pedalfor the cable type some cars come with it already (mostly early 1.6 petrols) and the part number is90530835 (around £25), There Is already a hole for the cable in the bulk head behide the driversidestrut you'll have to get the rubber grommet of the cable instead of the blanking one.

As you can see the hole coming into the foot well (Can also be used for cables to power ICE)

NOTE: (Ive posted all you need to know about the wiring to the engine into the car, at the bottom ofthe page)

Just use the f23 gearbox that most mk4 come with i.e GSI's and some diesels (But not the 2.2 asthe starter motor is in the wrong place), You can use the (Early) flat type flywheel from a redtop(C20XE) asthe newer shape (Z20LET) flywheels are only a 6 bolt pattern and the v6 is an 8 bolt pattern.

You will also need the c20xe pressure plate to match the flat type flywheel, But you have to use theCalibra turbo(c20let/f28 box) friction disc to match the input shaft from the f23 gearbox (The f23and f28 have a different number of splines to the f20/f18/f25), Or just use the whole (C20LET)flywheel and clutchset up, But they use the pot type fly and is heavyer than the flat type (pot9.6kgs, flat 6.5kgs compared to the v6 fly 15.6kgs)

The differences between the flat and pot types (Cant find 1 of the v6 item) the v6 is almost the twocombined

The clutch set ups that i have mentioned can also be used with other engine conversion where thef23 is used (ie C20LET/C20XE in a astra mk4, Even the zafira,)

NOTE: Dont use the v6 flywheel bolts they have a big head and they pretrude too far and can hit theclutch, use the C20LET bolts instead as there flat (Part number 90511423)

So straight away you have a lightend/lighter flywheel as the v6 one weighs a tonne. This link is toone the of pages on MARK T's Website, it will help alothttp://77.96.230.10/sytemsandsoftwar...F25WithF20.htmHe is a very knowledgeable person and his site has got me out of some sticky situations.

If your car uses the f23 gearbox already you wont need to change the driveshafts, But if not youcan use the vectra b v6 shafts (like i did) as there the same size as the astra g, Plus you have theadded benefit of equal lenght drive shafts (less wheel spin and sell torque steer). The bell housingon the f23 gear box is 23mm shorter than the f25 so you will have to space the shaft mount over23mm (you can get them off ebay) so it meets up with the mount holes on the back of the engine.

The way i mounted the engine was by making a mount that bolts original astra drivers side rubbermount using the holes on the engine where the vectra torque mount goes and one of the mountholes in the power steering deletion bracket (more about the deletion bracket later) and the rest isjust held in by the other 3 mounts on the gearbox,

Here's my engine mount (note: The far right bolt of the PSD bracket isnt in as i had to cut it down)

You have to space the mount away from the engine as a belt goes through the middle of it like so.

Here a like to some other astra mounts http://www.astraownersclub.com/vb/sh...d.php?t=191587

Dropping the engine in was easy the only thing you have to take off is the top half of the inlet(unlike the corsa where you hvae to fit the bear block and build it up once its in)

Then put the inlet back on

The astra g uses electric steering so there is no need for the power steering pump on the enginethere are two ways to do this:1.The power steering deletion bracket (I'll have to get the part number for this).2. Just loop the pipes on the pump with a small reservoir for oil to keep it lubricated.(note: that you will have to make a slightly different engine mount if you dont use the deletionbracket)

Heres the PSD bracket, The mount in the pic as from the vectra c gsi, My mount bolts in the sameplaces (red arrows) and the bracket in yellow

For the brakes your better off going for the 5 stud set up if you dont have them already, you willalso get rear discs if you do not have them already and you can run bigger 308mm discs

Plus you have a better choice of wheels to chose from, Some astra's dont have abs and you can'tget a speed signal from the f23 so you have to fit a abs hub (if you go 5stud you will already have aabs ring on) to get a signal from and run it to the clocks but the signal is very weak without the absecu so you have to run a amp, The diagram to make your own is avalable from Mark T on AOC orask him to make you one (i'm going to ask him for permission if i can post a link to the diagram)And Dom that i mentioned before is currently making a prototypehttp://www.migweb.co.uk/forums/other...mselling.html

You will need to use the (Early pre 93) flat type flywheel from a redtop (C20XE), You also need touse the c20xe pressure plate to match the flat type flywheel, But you have to use the Calibra turbo(c20let/f28 friction disc to match the input shaft from the f23 gearbox (The f23 and f28 have adifferent number of splines to the f20/f18/f25)

Or just use the whole (C20LET) flywheel and clutchset up, But they use the pot type fly and isheavyer than the flat type (pot 9.5kgs, flat 6.5kgs)

Heres a picture to show the difference between a c20xe (Early) flat type flywheel and the V6flywheel

could i ask a couple of questions?

I have a 1999T Astra G Van 2.0DI.

Aside from the fuel tank issues, do i need to change much other wiring on my van other then theconnections listed above?

Also, I am assuming that the 2.0 DI uses an F23 gearbox so my outlay costs should be minimal?

Any other suggestions/advice for performing the conversion?
