A Message from the Director
Welcome everyone to our Theatre Group’s production of
The original idea of having a Theatre Group was conceived by
Glenwood Carlyon (who now lives near Birmingham) and he and a
group of about ten others began the Colyton Theatre Group in 1974.
They raised money to put on shows by holding jumble sales, coffee
mornings etc. and I am delighted to say the Group has gone from
strength to strength. Thank you to all our founder members for
leaving us such a legacy. We do have one “original” on stage tonight
– Tweedledum a.k.a Dr Mick Askew (you see you can never escape
from our clutches!). I would like to list them all but space prevents me
from doing so.
As it is our 40th year, the committee decided to put on plays, shows
and a pantomime which we have performed in the past, hence the
resurrection of “Alice”. We also have two actors from way back in
2002, namely Derek Wenn playing the King again and Simon Ford
repeating his performance as the Cheshire Cat.
As with most drama groups, we are always looking to swell
our numbers – you're never too young or too old as, on stage
tonight, the age range is from six through to 84! So why not
give it a try yourself. We are a friendly group and you will
be welcomed with open arms - go on – give it a try.
Just let anyone in the group know of your interest and
you could be our next shining star.
Thank you audience for your support and long may it
continue.
Lyn Henley, January 2014
