Welcome to all who are worshipping with us today. On this second Sunday of autumn, we continue to feel the refreshing and gentle winds of the Holy Spirit!

We’ll be presenting the Bilingual Children's ministry during the service, a fun and educational programme for children aged 3-12. This month’s theme is Peace.

As we celebrate the Lord’s supper, please let the minister know if somebody needs to receive Communion at home or hospital.

The wooden Benevolent Fund box is on the table at the back of the sanctuary. Each time we share in Holy Communion we have the opportunity to donate to this fund, which is used to purchase food vouchers for the minister to distribute to people in need, including our own members.

All are welcome to our Mission and Service Birthday/Anniversary celebration after the service. Join us for a hot meal followed by dessert. With your free-will offering, our community increases our M&S donations and our love spreads around the world!

23 kg of food. Children’s choir: Our choir director, Leslie Young, would like to start

an ecumenical children’s choir of sacred music with children, grade 2 and older, from the local Anglican, Baptist, Presbyterian and United churches. He would like a group of 6-8 young people. Last Sunday (September 25) was the Rev. John Barry Forsyth's last Sunday in the pulpit as St. Andrew’s Presbyterian's resident pastor. We thank him for the leadership he showed.

UCW 55th anniversary pin: the UCW will turn 55 in 2017 and there is a pin available for purchase. Cost is $6 and a photo is on the front table. Please let Janet know today if you wish to purchase one.

Thanksgiving Sunday: Once again we will collect donations of fresh fruit and vegetables (apples, squash, carrots, etc.) for the local food bank, Moisson Estrie, and special donations to Mission and Service. Our harvest gifts will be collected by the children during worship and will be transported to the food bank on Tuesday, October 11. Moisson Estrie also gladly accepts cheques, made out to Plymouth-Trinity with a note they are for Moisson Estrie. Special Mission and Service envelopes will be available and donations to M&S should be placed with our regular envelopes and PAR cards on the offering plate.

Advance notices Fort McMurray: Sharing the Christmas spirit. The UCW will be collecting

Christmas tree ornaments or Christmas kitchen linens (towels, dishcloths, placemats or potholders) to send to the residents of Fort McMurray who lost their homes earlier this year to the wild fires. We will send the items to First United Church which will work with partners to distribute. If you would prefer to donate cash towards ornaments or to help defer shipping charges, please do so. Please make your donations before November 13 to allow time for packing and shipping.

Empty bowls Lennoxville / Bols du partage: “Empty Bowls” is an international grassroots movement to help end hunger. Here local potters have created bowls, local chefs will prepare soup and local bakers are supplying bread. For $25, you are invited to enjoy a bowl of soup and you get to keep the bowl. All proceeds will go to local organizations to fight hunger: Cornerstone Food Bank, Lennoxville Elementary School Breakfast Program and The Pastoral Fund which helps needy students on the Bishop’s / Champlain Campus.

Bienvenue à toutes les personnes venant célébrer aujourd’hui. En cette deuxième semaine d’automne, nous continuons à sentir le souffle doux et rafraîchissant de l’Esprit Saint!

Des Bibles en français sont disponibles à l’arrière.

Aujourd’hui, il y a école du dimanche pour les enfants âgés de 3-12 ans : il s’agit d’une activité amusante et éducative dont le thème est la Paix.

Comme nous partagerons le repas du Seigneur aujourd’hui, veuillez informer le pasteur si vous connaissez quelqu’un qui aimerait recevoir la communion à domicile.

Comme à chaque jour de communion, une petite caisse en bois se trouve en arrière de l’église afin de recueillir vos dons pour le fonds de bienfaisance; ce fonds permet l’achat et la distribution de bons alimentaires pour les personnes dans le besoin, incluant celles de notre communauté.

Après le service, tout le monde est le bienvenu à notre célébration des anniversaires de naissance et de mariage; un repas chaud avec dessert y est servi. Vos dons au fonds Mission et Service contribuent à répandre l’amour dans le monde!

À venir Bols du partage : Les Bols du partage, c’est un effort international en

vue d’éliminer la famine. La semaine prochaine, des potiers locaux auront fabriqué des bols; des cuisiniers prépareront de la soupe; des boulangers fourniront du pain. Vous êtes invités à savourer un une soupe dans un bol que vous garderez, le tout pour 25 $. Tous les profits seront remis à des organismes locaux : la banque alimentaire Cornerstone, le programme déjeuners de l’école primaire de Lennoxville et le Fond Pastoral pour les étudiants de Lennoxville dans le besoin.

Nous sommes appelés à la mission de Dieu en tant qu’individus et communautés. Nous participons en partageant les grâces de Dieu : notre temps, nos talents et habiletés, et nos possessions.

L’intendance chrétienne concerne notre vie personnelle, profession-nelle et familiale, ainsi que la bonne gestion de nos dons, incluant ceux offerts à notre église. Elle concerne nos vies communautaire et confes-sionnelle, qui proviennent de notre désir individuel et collectif de participer à la mission de Dieu dans le monde.

L’intendance, dans tous ses aspects, est un ministère et un processus d’apprentissage qui a besoin de soutien, d’éducation et de pratique spirituelle avec constance.

We are called as individuals and communities into God’s mission. We participate by giving the gifts that God has entrusted to us. These gifts are everything that we have: our time, our talent and skills, and our treasure or physical resources.

Christian stewardship includes all aspects of our lives. It is about our personal, work and family life. It is about the good management of donations, including those made to our church. It is about our con-gregational and denominational life, which flows from our individual and collective desire to be part of God’s mission for the world.

Being stewards and encouraging all aspects of Christian stewardship is a ministry and formation process that requires support, education and spiritual practice over time.

Stewardship: our weekly givings. While the Bible

calls for us to tithe (give 10% of our income) and our ordained clergy often do, many of us give a lot less while wondering if we’re giving our fair share. The United Church of Canada recommends we aim for at least 1-2% of our taxable income – line 260 on the federal tax form. See the chart below for what this amount would be for you.
