Die Forschungsaktivitäten der Abteilung sind auf klinisch-orientierte und grundlagenwissenschaftliche Studien ausgerichtet. Dabei sind besonders Thrombozyten, Immunreaktionen mit diesen und die physiologischen und pathophysiologischen Reaktionen von Thrombozyten ein Schwerpunkt. Daneben werden weitere Interessensgebiete mit anderen Forschungsgruppen interdisziplinär bearbeitet. Resultate dieser Forschungsarbeiten werden regelmäßig in internationalen Fachzeitschriften publiziert.
