ICT accessibility research Trend in South Korea • The South Korean government has been conducting accessibility re-

search since 2005 (Legislation, Policy, Mandate for web accessibility certification including government agencies and private stakeholders) • Top ITU index for household ICT accessibilities • Government authorities has ben transferred from the Ministry of Public

Administration and Security to the Ministry of Science, ICT and Fu-ture Planning (in 2013) • Korea Communication Commission is under the Ministry• The first government funding research on ICT accessibility policy and

implementation (NO.1711026762) 2015 “Research for investigating global policy and technology trend on ICT accessibility for vulnerable social group”

Research Purpose

• Drawing Future Agenda for ICT accessibility by investi-gating policies on information accessibility and technol-ogy trends in developed and developing countries – In-ternational level • Making suggestions on possible alternatives to current

polices for enhancing ICT accessibility

Research Methods

• Investigating current ICT accessibility related policies of Korea and several countries of interest (Especially de-veloped countries and a few Asian countries, such as, Japan, China, Thailand and Philippines), its structural limitation and identifying problems.• Gathering information on technology trend to tackle is-

sues with ICT accessibility (mainly in the area of broad-casting, telecommunication, mobile and web accessibil-ity)

Expected outcome

• Presenting current status of policies in ICT accessibility • Drawing implications on the pros and cons of policies

gesting possible alternatives to current polices

Mobile ApplicationAccessibility Guidelines 2.0 (In Process) This standard describes the methods of develop-ing mobile application which everyone, including persons with disabilities and the elderly, can ac-cess.Especially, this standard helps mobile application developers, designers and providers make mobile application accessible.• This standard describes recommendations(18 items) that improve the accessibility of mobile application. Also, this standards provides devel-opment methods and actual cases considering accessibility guidelines
