    A proven technology is now available to isolate

    harmonic current and protect the equipmenton your power distribution system fromdamage due to harmonic voltage distortion.

    By actively monitoring the non-linear current

    demanded by the load, the ASIRobicon ActiveHarmonic Filter (AHF) electronically generatesan adaptive current waveform which matchesthe shape of the non-linear portion of the

    load current.

    By injecting this matching current in the bus,

    the AHF stops the destructive current at thepoint of connection.

    By this mode of cancellation, the AHF

    provides the industrys best attenuation ofharmonic currents.

    The AHFs IGBT Converter Bridge reacts at

    micro-second speed to changes in thenon-linear load current, allowing cancella-tion even as the high frequency harmoniccomponents change.

    The AHF is not affected by changes in theimpedance in the system, nor will it reactwith other devices. The AHF will not adverselyaffect the resonant points in the system.

    The AHF has no series components, allow-ing an easy-to-install connection. If greater

    capacity is required, the AHF has built-incircuitry to allow for simple paralleling.Paralleled systems are available for singlepoint eld connection.

    power factor without the negative effects of

    traditional power factor correction capacitors.

    Current Limited

    The AHF unit is limited and can work in anysystem without damage, regardless of themagnitude of harmonic current demanded bythe load.

    Safety and Access

    The AHFs power selections are coveredwithin the enclosure. Removable panels allow

    easy front access and clear view of majorcomponents.

    The AHFs electronic bridge drawsleading reactive current from the

    power line, stores it in a DC capacitorbus, and delivers it back to the lineas harmonic current, meeting the

    loads demand for non-linear currentat the point of connection. The sourcedelivers fundamental current.

    Industrys Best HarmonicCancellation Device

    Unlike a tuned lter, the AHFcontinuously measures the loads

    changing non-linear current and injects

    the required waveform to supply theloads harmonic current demand fromthe 2nd to the 51st harmonic.

    Easy to Apply

    The AHF is a non-resonating, non-tuned device. It can be installedanywhere in the distribution system. A

    simple measurement to determine themagnitude of harmonic current is allthat is needed. For new installationsthe equipment manufacturer or your

    AHF supplier can provide the requireddata.

    IGBT Bridge

    AHFs Class-D Switching Mode CurrentSource Amplier uses Insulated GateBipolar Transistors. These are high

    frequency switched power electronicdevices that allow high resolution andmicro-second response to match theloads non-linear current waveform.

    The AHF is connected parallel to thebus through a soft start circuit. Whenenergized, the AHF draws leading

    reactive current and the converter usesthis to charge a DC Bus.

    The current transformers on two ofthe phases measure the load currentAn electronic notch lter rejects thefundamental frequency component

    and passes the distortion currentcomponents (harmonic as well asnon-harmonic, transient and sub-harmonic components). Electronically

    controlled linear attenuators reducethe harmonic current signals to limit

    the AHFs harmonic current output tothe units rated RMS value.

    The amplier control logic uses thissignal to modulate current waveform

    which matches the non-fundamentacurrent demanded by the non-lineaload.
