PROFILE

I have 17 years experience in mechanical engineering, with a broad range of knowledge covering various aspects of mechanical engineering including Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Gas Turbines, Aircraft Mechanical Systems, Forklift Trucks, Container Moving Vehicles, Ball & Roller Bearings, Belt Driven applications and Mechanical Power Transmission components. Throughout my career I have developed the skills necessary to work well as part of a team and also to confidently complete tasks as an individual in a safe reliable manor. I am competent with both the ‘hands on’ and supervision aspect of mechanical engineering as well as work recording and asset management, either in the form of an asset management based computer program or by way of completing written technical reports for work carried out. EMPLOYMENT EXPERIENCE

Rotational Specialist, Brammer UK 10/09/2012 – Present

Root cause analysis of bearing failures, providing written technical failure reports and making recommendations for upgrades or improvements to prevent re-occurrences.

Ensure bearings being used are suitable for the job based on speed limitations, operating temperature limitations taking lubrication schedules into account, axial and radial load limitations and recommend alternatives were required.

Implement new technology, belt drives, couplings and bearings to reduce production downtime for maintenance or through failures.

Carry out endoscopic inspections on gearboxes to advise on condition of internal components, gears and bearings.

Compile written detailed reports for all work carried out for review by section engineers.

Use problem solving techniques to identify and resolve issues across plant.

Project manage improvement activities ensuring that all tasks are completed on time, working with both area engineers and suppliers to achieve a suitable outcome.

Assist with identification of old unmarked equipment which may not have engineering drawings.

Produce Job Method Statements, Risk Assessments for work to be carried out.

Product Support/Service Engineer, Linde Heavy Truck Division 11/2011-09/2012

Supply technical advice to field service engineers or customers for faults on heavy duty forklift trucks and container moving vehicles at customer sites throughout the UK and Europe. This required an excellent understanding of vehicle hydraulic systems and their associated component parts. I also had to have a good understanding of hydraulic and electrical schematic diagrams.

Install new machines at customer sites, this required attachment of all hydraulic and mechanical parts, which often required heavy lifting equipment, ensuring all electrical connections were made and controls calibrated, complete system set up and ensuring a full functional test of the machine was carried out before handing over to the customer.

Provide full technical reports for all site visits and faults reported and to ensure that all work carried out was registered against the machine in SAP.

Provide technical training to field engineers at customer sites.

Petty Officer Aircraft Engineer, Royal Navy 04/1999-11/2011

I completed 12 years in the Royal Navy; I joined in 1999 as a Junior Aircraft Engineer Mechanic. I was selected for promotion to Leading Aircraft Engineering Technician in 2004; I was awarded the Certificate of Competence to Supervise Aircraft Maintenance in 2006. I was then selected and passed relevant training for Petty Officer Aircraft Engineering Technician in 2009.

Supervise all mechanical trade servicing, including gas turbines, hydraulics, powered flying controls, transmissions, landing gear and airframes.

Carry out in depth diagnosis and rectification on all faults on mechanical systems, ensuring all follow up checks and functional tests are also carried out using external test equipment.

Remove and replace faulty equipment such as gearboxes, gas turbine engines, hydraulic components following the relevant job method whilst adhering to all safety precautions, carry out all follow up tests and check alignments post change.

Ensure all paperwork is complete and reflects the work that was carried out including any independent checks.

Account for all tools and equipment used during maintenance.

Mentor junior engineers to aid them in completion of their training and trade task books.

Complete annual appraisals for junior engineers. EDUCATION & TRAINING
