Nota: Die praktyk het geleer dat dit raadsaam is om eers te wag met aankope, sodat hierdie tipe items tussen kamermaats gedeel kan word. Ons gaan u ongelukkig nie vooraf kan laat weet wie u kamermaats is nie, vir praktiese redes, siende dat lyste konstant fluktueer.

Die koshuis het op elke vloer wasgeriewe, naamlik ʼn outomatiese wasmasjien en ʼn swaardiens - tuimeldroër. Daar is op elke vloer ʼn meer as een opwas kombuis met hydroboil sisteme vir deurlopende warmwater. Daar is ‘n televisie op elke vloer.

Residence information Contents of rooms All first-year rooms are twin rooms that are shared according to HC allocation. The allocation of roommates only takes place during the December holidays, so we are unable to inform you of your roommate prior to registration. Every twin room contains the following: Desk

Bed and mattress (own bed linen must be brought along) Built-in closet (lockable with a “long shackle” lock) Chair Bookcase

Blinds in front of windows

Computer network point for access to the NWU-Puk network Built-in heater for our cold winters

Other items that may be brought (all optional, remember that space is limited and shared) • Computer (network points in every room – kindly bring along your own LAN cable) • Television (each floor has a television) and/or a radio • Fridge

• Microwave oven

• Car, bicycle, moped or motorbike (limited parking on campus, only at residence – riding a bicycle has shown itself to be the most efficient way of travel – just remember your own bicycle chain.)

• Music instrument (guitar, trumpets, etc. – very important for first-year concert and other entertainment)

• Also remember to bring along a lock for your room and your closet. The closet lock must have a long shackle.

• No frying pans or small stoves may be used in the rooms, only in the kitchens. • Only multi plugs with a red indicator light will be allowed in rooms. Note: Experience has shown that it’s wise to wait a few weeks, before true needs can be shared between roommates. Due to a constant influx and exodus we are unable to inform you of your roommate beforehand. Other facilities in the residence Every floor of the residence has laundry facilities – i.e. an automatic washing machine and a heavy-duty tumble dryer. Each floor has more than one dishwashing kitchen, with hydro boil systems for continuous warm water. What you need to do:

OPSIE 1/OPTION 1: EFT (Electronic Fund Transfer/ Internet oorbetaling)

The reference is very important so that the funds can be allocated to the right hostel. We encourage this option for it simplifies the administration.

OPSIE 2/OPTION 2: Gelde word betaal by die koshuis met aankoms/Money paid at Hostel on arrival.

Dit kan kontant of per tjek betaal word in die aangewese lokaal by die koshuis. /Can be paid in cash or with a check.

Dring asb. aan op `ʼn kwitansie aangesien dit dien as bewys.

Please ask for a proof of payment.

OPSIE 3/ OPTION 3: Gelde word betaal by kassiere in gebou F1 in Lovers Lane/Money is paid at the cashiers in building F1 in Lovers Lane.

ʼn Kwitansie word vir u uitgedruk en moet dan by die koshuis ingedien word as bewys van betaling./ The proof of payment should then be shown at the hostel

Ons raai u aan om nie die prosedure te volg nie aangesien die rye lank is en om vir kassiere te vra om twee kwitansies uit te druk aangesien u die een gaan indien by die koshuis en dan self nie `n bewys het nie./This method is very time consuming thus it is not recommended.

OPSIE 4/OPTION 4: Vorms word geteken by die koshuis met aankoms waar die gelde op die studenterekening gehef word/Forms are signed at the hostel on arrival where you agree that fees are added on the student account.

Alle beurshouers (veral NSFAS) moet hierdie vorm teken, mits anders gestel deur beursooreenkoms. / All the bursary holders (especially NSFAS) should sign this form except if the bursary agreement states differently.
