European Car of the Year

2015 Volkswagen PassatAfter claiming the North American Car of the Year awad in

January with the Golf (European COTY winner in 2013), it

only seems right that the European winner would also go to

the brand. Volkswagen’s new Passat is large by European

standards but garnering 340 points (92 points more than 2nd

place Citroen) and 30 first place votes among the 58 jurors

makes it the runaway choice. Sharing its MQB platform with

the Golf, the new Passat provides a more upscale look with

its wide stance and coupe-like C-pillar treatment. Roominess,

including class-leading cargo room, is supplemented by a

range of powertrain choices including turbo gas, turbodiesel,

and hybrid editions ranging from 125hp to 240hp. For 2015,

both sedan and wagon versions continue.
