A área de jurisdição é delimitada por uma linha com início na intersecção do paralelo 53 750 com a berma poente da Rua do Engenheiro Silva (A) e acompanha esta via para sul até intersectar a berma sul da Avenida da Foz do Mondego. The APFF, S.A. has the attributions of Port Authority in the Port of Figueira da Foz, with jurisdiction on port terrains, areas of expansion and areas of Maritime Public Domain adjacent to the Mondego River estuary. The jurisdiction area is delimited by a line witch begins in the intersecção of parallel 53 750 with the western perimeter of Engenheiro Silva St. (A) and follows this route south until it intersects the southern perimeter of Foz do Mondego Av. nascente, continuando no mesmo sentido na Avenida de Saraiva de Carvalho e na Estrada Municipal n.º 600 até intersectar o caminho de ferro (B), passando a acompanhar o limite sul deste caminho até à Estação de Tratamento de Águas Residuais da Câmara Municipal da Figueira da Foz (C), onde atravessa o rio Mondego para o vértice nascente do Serradinho. Segue para sul até ao respectivo limite, inflectindo depois no sentido poente, acompanhando os limites sul do «Viveiro do Mondeguinho», do «Viveiro do Cerco», que atravessa a meio, do «Viveiro do Norte», do «Viveiro S. Julião» e do «Viveiro D. Maria». Atravessa a EN 109 para a berma poente, passando a acompanhar este limite no sentido sul até à rotunda, que contorna também para poente e logo de seguida para norte até ao ponto D. Segue para norte até ao ponto E, inflectindo para poente até ao ponto F e G onde intersecta o paralelo 52 100.

O porto da Figueira da Foz situa--se no troço final do estuário do Rio Mondego.

A barra orientada para oeste, em zona de costa arenosa, está delimitada por dois molhes exteriores convergentes, sendo a distância entre as duas cabeças de 320 m..

The port of Figueira da Foz lies at the end of the Mondego River estuary.

The channel westwardly orientated, in a sandy coastal area, is delimitated by two exterior converging break-waters, whose heads are 320 m. apart.

New alignment will be defined for the channel entrance and installed new maritime indicators.

gENERAL DESCRIP-TION Of ThE PORT

Novo enfiamento será definido para a barra e instalado nova sinalização para assinalamento marítimo.

Devido ao transporte aluvionar litoral, forma-se exteriormente, junto ao molhe norte, um banco de areia, que se estende de norte para sul, e cuja existência pode condicionar temporariamente a praticabilidade da barra.

Calado máximo recomendado aos navios que praticam a barra é de 6 m., apesar da grande mobilidade dos fundos e do comportamento variável da barra ao longo do ano. Navios com calado máximo um pouco superior a 6 m., poderão ser admitidos, após uma análise caso a caso pela autoridade portuária (departamento de pilotagem), quando se verifiquem condições de tempo e mar favoráveis, o que sucede principalmente fora da época invernosa.

As entradas e saídas de navios de comércio efectuam-se entre o nascer do sol e as 24 horas, durante todo o ano. No período nocturno, essas movimentações só poderão ser efectuadas com maré de enchente, barra aberta, boa visibilidade e boas condições de embarque/desembarque fora da barra.

Due to the alluvion transport along the coast line, a sand bank is formed outside the channel, near to the north breakwater, which extends from north to the south, and can temporarily condition the practicability of the channel entrance.

The ship´s maximum draft recomended for a safe passage over the channel is 6 m., besides the movement of sands in the river and the variable behaviour of the channel during the year. The ships with a maximum draft slightly over 6 m., can be allowed to the channel, after a case to case analysis by the port authority (pilot department), under favourable weather and sea conditions, particularly out of the winter season.

The entries and exits of merchant ships take place between sunrise and midnight, during the whole year. In the nocturnal period, these movements will only be allowed during high tide, open bar, good visibility and good conditions of boarding/unboarding of harbour pilot at harbour entrance.

Em situação de barra condicio-nada, o horário de entrada e saída de navios mercantes ficará limitado ao período entre o nascer e o pôr-do-sol.

Ao demandar a barra e passada a linha definida pelas cabeças dos molhes, encontra-se uma área de expansão da ondulação que é delimitada pelos molhes norte e sul, seguindo-se os molhes interiores e um canal regularizado; o estuário divide-se então em dois braços - braço norte e braço sul - estes também com as margens regularizadas, dentro da zona portuária.

Na margem norte do braço norte e navegando de jusante para montante, localiza-se a Doca de Recreio, que inclui na área nascente um cais e fundeadouro para embarcações de serviços e, mais a montante o sector comercial do porto.

In situation of conditioned harbour entrance, the time-table of entry and departure of merchant ships, will be limited to the period between sunrise and sunset.

When navigating inwards and past the line drawn by the breakwaters heads, there is aswell expansion area, delimited by the north and south breakwaters, followed by the interior breakwaters and a regularized channel; the estuary then divides into two tributaries - north and south - also with impounded banks, within the port area.

On the north side of the north tributary from down to upstream are located the Marina, which includes, in the east side a service vessel pier together with an anchor area, and fur ther up the commercial sector of the port.

Nominalmente, os fundos no canal de acesso e na bacia do porto comercial encontram-se à cota (- 7,00 m.) ZH. Devido ao forte assoreamento causado pelos caudais sólidos transportados pelo rio, há que contar com reduções temporárias nos tirantes de água disponíveis, reduções essas que são eliminadas com dragagens periódicas de manutenção.

Na margem sul do braço norte, lado nascente, localiza-se a denominada Doca dos Bacalhoeiros, em cuja periferia se exercem actividades ligadas às pescas e se situam dois estaleiros navais.

Na margem sul do braço norte, lado poente, localiza-se o Porto de Pesca. Na margem da doca de acesso e serviços localiza-se a Estação Salva-Vidas, existindo também estaleiros navais, por ora desactivados.

The nominal depth of the channel and manoeuvring area is (- 7,00 m.) below hydrographical zero. Due to the strong silt up, caused by the solid flows conveyed by the river, has to be taken in account the temporary reductions in the available water levels, which are periodically eliminated by the maintenance dredgings.

On the south bank of the nort tributary, east side, is located the so called “Codfishers Dock”, in which periphery are locate companies related to the fishing activities, and also two shipyards.

On the south bank of the north tributary, west side, is located the Fishing Port. On the side of the acess and service dock is located the Search and Rescue Station, and a ship repairyards currently deactivated.

Toda a faixa costeira a oeste da praia, entre o limite norte (Zv = 048 a partir do sector branco do farolim de Buarcos), e a direcção definida pelo prolongamento do molhe norte do porto, tem fundos de areia com um declive suave.

A zona de fundeadouro foi recentemente definida por Edital da Autoridade Marítima, entre os pontos com as seguintes coordenadas:

No interior do porto não existem fundeadouros, sendo obrigatória a atracação de todos os navios, excepto em condições muito excepcionais, avaliadas pela autoridade portuária.

All along the coastline west of the beach, between the north limit (True bearing = 048º from Buarcos light beacon´s white sector) and the bearing defined by the north breakwater, there are sandy beds with gentle sloopes.

The area of anchorage was recently defined in a regulation issued by the Maritime Authority, between the points

Existem actualmente 2 estaleiros navais em actividade, para cons-trução e reparação de navios em ferro ou outros materiais (madeira, alumínio, fibra) até 3500 T de porte bruto. There are 2 naval shipyards in activity at the moment, in the Figueira da Foz port area, for construction and repair of steel ships or other materials ( like wood, aluminium or fibreglass ) until 3500 T of deadweight. They are located upstream (“Doca dos Bacalhoeiros“) as well as downstream (near the fishing port). The naval shipyard (former Naval Foz) located downstream, in an area adjacent to the Fishe Harbour, is currently inoperative.

Encontra-se implementado por todo o país, o Sistema VTS (Vessel Traffic Service) Nacional, o qual consiste num conjunto de equipamentos de radar e de comunicações instaladas nos principais portos, bem como em alguns pontos da costa portuguesa, com a finalidade de exercer um melhor controlo do tráfego marítimo. No porto da Figueira da Foz estão instaladas duas torres de VTS portuário.O controle do tráfego de aproxi-mação e portuário encontra-se centralizado na Estação de Paço d’Arcos em Lisboa em ligação com a estrutura local do porto da Figueira da Foz.

The National VTS (Vessel Traffic Service) System which is implementede throughout the entire country, consists in a set of radar and communications equipment installed in the main ports, as well as at some locations on the portuguese coast, with the purpose of providing a better maritime traffic control. In the Port of Figueira da Foz there are two VTS towers installed.The portuary and arriving traffic control is centralized in VTS Coastal Station at Paço d’Arcos, Lisbon, in connection with the local port structure.

O desenvolvimento desta aplicação e respectivo processo de implementação junto de cada porto nacional, resultou de um aturado e paciente trabalho de vários anos por parte de uma Comissão de especialistas nacionais de alta craveira, tendo como entidade promotora a APP (Associação dos Portos Portugueses), conseguindo-se assim com a oferta de um serviço de qualidade, integrar simultaneamente os requisitos da operação portuária e o papel de cada um dos “stakeholders” na mesma, tendo em consideração as directivas internacionais em vigor.

The development of this application and respective process of implementation in each national port, was the result of persistent and patient work of many years on the part of a Commission of national specialists, with high standards, having as promotional entity the APP (Association of the Portuguese Ports), obtaining thus a certainty of a quality service, simultaneously integrating port operation needs and the role of each one of the “stakeholders”, taking into consideration the current international standards.

Este serviço é obrigatório na área do interior do porto e até um limite exterior aproximado de 2 milhas centrado no farolim do molhe norte exterior. A pilotagem é obrigatória, exceptuando os casos previstos no Regulamento Geral do Serviço de Pilotagem, de que se mencionam os mais importantes:

1) Os navios da Armada nacional e as unidades auxiliares da Marinha;2) Embarcações de entrada ou saída destinadas a trabalhos portuários;3) Navios em tráfego de cabotagem nacional

This service is compulsory in the interior of the harbour area, until an exterior limit of approximately 2 miles radius with its centre on the lighthouse located at the northouter breakwater.Pilotage is compulsory, exception is made only for the following cases, as per the pilotage general service regulations:

1) National Navy vessels and auxiliary units;2) Vessels inbound or outbound engaged in harbour works;3) Vessels engaged in national coastal traffic;

Quando a barra estiver aberta, mas haja ondulação forte, o piloto dará instruções por VHF (é usado o canal 14 para a Pilotagem) ao navio, a fim de que este demande a barra em segurança, e só entrará a bordo quando o navio já se encontrar no interior dos molhes.Para efectuar os pedidos de piloto, o Departamento de Pilotagem deve ser contactado em VHF canal 14 ou 16.

When the entrance to the channel is open, but strong swell conditions are felt, the pilot will give instructions by VHF ( channel 14 is used for pilotage), to the ship, so that she can approach the channel entrance safely, and will only embark when the ship is already inside the breakwaters. To ask for a pilot, all the requests should be made to the Pilot Department, on VHF channel 14 or 16.

Os sinais de manobras propriamente ditos são sempre referidos •à proa do navio e intuitivamente à proa dos rebocadores.

No decorrer de uma manobra pode haver necessidade de fazer •sinal só para o rebocador auxiliar – isto é o que não reboca – então esse sinal será precedido de um apito longo e curto ( --.) e, com o devido intervalo, será dado então o sinal desejado. The manoeuvring signals themselves are always referred to the •bow of the ship and intuitively the bow of the tugboats.

When carrying out a manoeuvre it may be necessary to make •a signal only to the auxiliary tugboat – i.e. the one that is not tugging – in this case the signal will be preceded by a long and short whistle ( --.) and, with a suitable interval, the desired signal will then be issued. When this signal is given, the other tugboat will act so as not to counteract the desired course of action.

The tugboats, upon recognising the signals, will repeat them.•

As alturas de previsão de marés •estão referidas ao plano Zero Hidrográfico, o qual fica situado 2,00 m. abaixo do nível médio do mar ou 6,96 m. abaixo da marca de nivelamento MNSH colocada na soleira da porta do marégrafo que registou as curvas da maré.

Dado que o plano Zero Hidrográfico •(ZH) foi fixado em relação a níveis médios adoptados há várias décadas, existe presentemente uma diferença sistemática de cerca de +10 centímetros entre as alturas de água observadas e as alturas de maré previstas.

Alertam-se os utilizadores, que as •previsões de marés indicadas são referidas a um fuso horário que poderá não coincidir com o fuso horário correspondente à hora legal.

À data de elaboração da •presente publicação, a hora legal é determinada pelo Decreto-Lein.º 17/96 de 8 de Março.

ESTABELECIMENTO DO PORTOHora verdadeira da preia-mar que •

se segue à passagem da Lua no meridiano do porto, em dia sizígia, quando a Lua e o Sol estão ao mesmo tempo no Equador, às suas distâncias médias da Terra e passam simultaneamente no meridiano.

The forecast heights of the tides are •in relation to the Hydrographic Zero level, which is situated 2.00 m. below the average sea level or 6.96 m. below the MNSH level mark placed on the foot of the gate of the tide gauge which registers the curves of the tide.

Given that the Hydrographic Zero •(Z.H.) was fixed in relation to the average levels adopted over several decades, there is today a regular difference of around + 10 centimetres between the heights of the water actually observed and the forecast heights of the tide.

Users of this edition of the Tide •Charts are alerted to the fact that the forecast tides outlined are in line with times that may not coincide with the corresponding legal time.
