    Objectives | Mission| Member states

Formed by a few visionary countries to provide an opportunity to reflect together on common problems in 1954, the

European Association of Electrical Contractors AIE comprises 20 national associations representing 175,000contractors, a workforce of 900,000 and a turnover of Euro 60 billions.

Monitoring the EU agenda/Directives relevant for the electrical sector, the AIE points out the key strategies and main

priorities for the modern electrical contractor. With the increasing complexity of technical installations, the private

consumer and house owner as well as the professional specifier or purchasing official are becoming more and more

dependent on the knowledge and creativity of the electrical contractor. He is an expert adviser who is able to explain

to the client the possibilities and advantages of new technology in a technical and environmental way.

Please visit our website: www.aie.eu or contact us at [email protected]

In accordance with the principle of subsidiarity, the mission of AIE is: To co-ordinate and promote the common interests of European Electrical Contractors.

To monitor and influence the legislative and consultative process of the European Union relevant

to the businesses of European Electrical Contractors.

To facilitate the exchange of relevant information between members and EU law implementation. An updated version of our European and corresponding international members can be downloaded at www.aie.eu/members.

    > Covering both private and public sector the

AIE promotes opportunities - within European legislation - towards:

Energy efficiency: reducing energy consumption and optimise energy performanceby installing automation, control and metering systems in buildings, industry and infrastructures.

Energy services and standardisation:advising customers on energy efficient solutions to bestrespond to their needs, providing reliable energy through safe electrical networks in accordance withthe highest demanding electrical EU standards and measurements.

ICT, smart and new technologies:the Web and Ethernet TCP/IP are being more and moreintegrated for better electricity distribution control and management. Smart automation is not just aluxury item, but a reliable comforting tool too for example for elderly and disabled persons, in buildingsor for industrial processes.

Renewable Energies:stimulating use, optimalisation and correct installation of photovoltacs, heat-pumps, combined heat and power (CHP).

Training and Education:the increasing complexity of technical installation and the constant develop-ment of new technologies in the sector requests a dynamic approach towards education and training,

stimulating the educational level towards new technologies and regular upskilling.Monitoring and benchmark the different EU educational systems leading the trainees to highly skilledand competent installers.

AIEs added value:> promote the electrical contractor as an expert advisor of energy efficient solutions

    > create awareness about new business opportunities for the electrical contractor

    > monitor and influence EU key legislation and ISO and CENELEC standards

    > contribute to energy demand management and comfort thanks to ICT and

    active control systems

    > promote safety of the electrical installations> stimulate installation of new technologies

    > improve sustainable energy together with renewables

    > be an information and coordination platform/network

    in Europe

    AIE Quick-start:

The general priorities of the association are: Monitoring and influencing the European Policy, in particular regarding Energy Efficiency,

Energy Services and Renewables (photovoltaics and solar energy ...)

Improving and promoting Electrical Safety in dwellings through inspection, testing

    and maintenance

Raise awareness regarding Intelligent Homes, Assisted Living and ICT

Follow-up of legislation and standardisation issues in the electrotechnical field Improve the relations within the electrical value chain

Be aninformation and coordination platformfor members (Updating members of the latest EU Policy

by means of the weekly AIE Infoflashes and bi-monthly newsletters)

Stimulating the networking platformby cooperating and networking between the AIE members and sector

    related associations

Special Events | CYE| Council of Delegates

    ~ Council ofDelegates

Every year our national and International

members meet each other again at theAIE Council of Delegates and Annual

    Conference, alternately held in different

    European Member States.Take a glimpse

of our previous gatherings at www.aie.eu/

    past events.

~ European Competition of Young Electricians (CYE)

Since 1992, this most appreciated and sector specific competition is held every two

    years for young electricians.

It is simultaneously a competition to demonstrate publicly the high capabilities

of young electricians throughout Europe while rising the public awareness of the

    high educational level of electricians.

The competition aims at giving the opportunity to candidates

and skilled employees of the AIE member countries to become

acquainted with the various working methods, working

materials and tools as well as standards to be observed.

Holding this competition supports exchange of information and

experience on different educational system and training

methods by allowing informative comparisons of the

    occupational knowledge and skills.

TheAIE - European Association for Electrical Contractorsbrings your involvement and interest closer to European decisionmakers.
