HISTORY• Roman troops entered the 206. C., during the Second Punic War, under the

command of General Scipio and defeated the Carthaginians who inhabited and defended the region. Scipio decided to found Italica, the birthplace of the Roman emperors Hadrian and Trajan at a nearby location, Santiponce.

• Later, in the place that would be the current city of Seville, Julius Caesar founded "Colonia Iulia Romula Hispalis", Latinized the name of the original indigenous town of the city ( "Ispal") in Hispalis, adding "Julia" by name and "Romula" by Rome usual formula in place names of Roman colonies.

• During the sixteenth century the city experienced a great development and transformation, which led to the construction of some of the most important buildings in the center histórico.66 The city became a multicultural center , which would help the flowering of the arts.
