Looking AheadEvents & Opportunities

Next Sunday: November 3, 2019 — All Saints Sunday

www.allsaints-pas.org All Saints Church, 132 N. Euclid Ave, Pasadena CA 91101 626.796.1172

All Saints Sunday is our parish feast day when we traditionally honor relatives and friends who have died within the past year. At all services our memorial book, containing the names of loved ones will be placed on the altar. You are

invited to look in the memorial book for the name of the person you love.Requiem Eucharist at 9 & 11:15 a.m.

Coventry Choir and Chamber Orchestra, directed by Weicheng Zhao will offer

Requiem for the Living by Dan Forrest. The five movements of Dan Forrest’s Requiem for the

Living, (2013), form a narrative just as much for the living, and their own struggle with pain and sorrow, as for the

dead. The Sanctus offers three different glimpses of the “heavens and earth, full of Thy glory,” all of which develop

the same musical motif: an ethereal opening section inspired by images of space from the Hubble Space Telescope, a stirring middle section inspired by images

of our own planet as viewed from the International Space Station, and a closing section which brings the listener down to Earth, where cities teem with the energy of humanity. The Lux Aeterna which then closes

the work portrays light, peace, and rest — for both the deceased and the living.

Foster Care Project Seeks Thanksgiving DonationsOnce again, Foster Care Project will collect non-perishable food to provide Thanksgiving dinners to foster

care families in the Pasadena area. Non-perishable hams, (not the refrigerated kind), canned chicken, canned fruits and vegetables, instant mashed potatoes, stuffing and cornbread mixes, hearty soups,

juices, and baby food are most welcome. You may also provide a $10 grocery store gift card and let one of our volunteers do the shopping for you. Food and gift cards may be dropped off at the FCP lawn table

in the Connection Center on Sunday, Oct. 27. Thank you for helping!
