His athletic carcer spanned the late-1970s and 1980s.He subseqlently seNed as the Chief Executive of UK Athletics from 1997 to 2007.He was awarded an MBE in I 983 and an OBE in I 998 for services to British spori.Moorcroft is still the UK record holder for 3,000 metres.

He invenled it in respons€ to the need tocommunicate information about AIDS to the people ofAftica. He continues to inventand has recently developed his radio design to incorpomte solar panels.
