American Civic Responsibility

By: Laura Seinfeld 12th grade Social Studies Senior Project

“A good American citizen realizes he has been blessed by his country and seeks to give back by serving his fellow citizens. He loves his homeland despite its imperfections and embraces what makes this nation great: the right of every citizen to seek change for the better.”—Gail Peterson of Watts, Okla.

Residents of California

As member of the state of California we have an obligation to participate in government such as voting, protesting, volunteer work and staying informed on laws, elections, special bills and appointees such as mayors of our city, Senators of our state and Governor.

Protesting

In conjunction with knowing our laws and being opposed or for them; we have the freedom to speak up and protest. Protest not only brings awareness but also creates a sense of solidarity.

Helping those in need

Volunteering can make a difference not only to the lives of those you help but also to oneself. It is rewarding to know that you have contributed and made a difference.

Volunteering can help you make new friends, explore new interests and most important it can increase your self-confidence.

Please VOLUNTEER!

VOTINGVoting allows our opinion be heard and counted for. If we don’t vote someone else will and we will never get the chance to contribute to

society. Never under estimate the voting system our 1 vote can win the election.

Why is it Important?

It is important to uphold our responsibility to Civic Duty. We are citizens of the United States and we have an obligation to follow our democratic values of patriotism, due process and human rights.

We need to be responsible citizens and active participates in our society and it starts with US.
