Digital Implant Treatment and Prosthodontic Planning Concept
Clinical Aspects
Ochiai K, Yamashita T
USC School of Dentistry
INTRODUCTION AND PURPOSE
The fundamental components of occlusal design are
important determinates of diagnosis for
reconstructive dentistry While the importance of
esthetic evaluation cannot be understated an
evidence based understanding of the relationships
between esthetic evaluation and the assessment of
functional landmarks are important concepts of
treatment design The focus of this presentation will
review the areas of diagnosis and occlusal evaluation
with digital restorative dental implant design and the
importance of these relationships to conventional
prosthetic treatment
The purpose of this presentation is to provide a
review of prosthodontic treatment planning concepts
and their significance to digital implant treatment
planning and the delivery of care
METHODS
Clinical case reports following patient treatment with
CAD CAM technology restorative design and
treatment procedures
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION
Although dental implants have been a ubiquitous
treatment methodology for providing dental support
in the partially and fully edentulous treatment
situations various patient physical factors will
always require understanding and consideration of
important prosthodontic diagnostic concepts and
relationships used with conventional prosthodontics
Digital design technology helps to better visualize
and understand these concepts and most importantly
provides the technical benefits of improved fit
function and economic benefit
Digital technology has facilitated the use of a
systematic approach to treatment planning and the
importance of restorative prescription Pre and
intra treatment prosthodontic evaluations assists in
determining the best course of treatment for desired
patient outcomes
