Alan Alexander Miln(1882- 1956) is an English writer. His works for children are well-known not only in Great Britain but all over the world. His nice books are “When we were very young”( 1924),” Now we are already six” (1927).Christopher Robin appeared in these books. He was a boy, prototype of Miln’s son. One of Miln’s most popular books is “ Winnie- the- Pooh”(1926). It tells about the adventures of Winnie-the-Pooh, who was a teddy bear, a toy of Christopher Robin.

The writer was born on the 18th of January in 1882 in London. Miln had been working as an assistant of a publisher in a magazine since 1906 to 1914.During the years of the First World War he was in the army and started writing poems and plays. The writer was wounded in France in 1919, after his demobilization he devoted himself to literature. Alan Alexander Miln was more successful in creating children’s books. He wrote one of the best detective melodramas “Full alibi” published in a collection “Four plays” (1932). Miln also created some compositions for theatre, they were successful. They were approved by professional critics.

So, Alan Alexander Miln is a well- known English writer. Children and grown-ups enjoy reading his fairy-tales, especially “ Winnie-the-Pooh”.
