يكشف هذا الإصدار عن جانب تراثي يسهم في بيان جزء من طبيعة الحياة الاجتماعية في الكويت قديما، حيث تتبعت المؤلفة موضوع الأزياء النسائية الكويتية من خلال مسارين: أولهما يتناول التطور التاريخي لهذة الأزياء الشعبية النسائية، وثانيها يقدم وصفا لكل منها مع صورته الفوتوغرافية الملونه، وقدمت لذلك مدخلا عن تطور الأزياء الشعبية النسائية في التراث الإنساني بعامة، وفي دولة الخليج العربية بخاصة، ثم في التراث الكويتي قبل ظهور النفط، وأتبعت ذلك بثلاث فصول عن ألبسة الرأس، ثم ملابس الخروج. وأخيرا الملابس الداخلية وألبسة القدم. Costume is an inclusive term for dress, garment, and clothing.
